"The service was excellent! They arrived to pick up the vehicle a day earlier which was great. They delivered the vehicle right to my daughter's door and found a side street to unload. The service was delivered within the time frame given. All of my questions were answered via phone or email and the paperwork was seamless and the price was very reasonable."

"The installation went well, overall. Spectrum's personnel were knowledgeable, courteous, honest and helpful. They assessed both of the two tanks I had originally asked to have replaced and let me know that only one actually needed to be replaced at the time. I appreciated their candor and the explanation and demonstration they gave me to support their estimate that the second apartment's tank would last at least another 5 - 10 years. They advised me in advance that they might need to temporarily remove the stair treads from the two bottom basement stairs in order to manipulate the tanks as they moved the new one in and the old one out. They explained multiple options for transferring fuel between the old and new tanks together with the attendant risks and costs / savings. We decided to schedule the installation once my tenants old tank was almost empty to speed and simplify the process. I was completely satisfied with how they cleaned the installation area and replaced the stair treads at the end of the project. Only one concern arose during the project when the installation had to be delayed for several days because a funeral and another unplanned event came up for one of Spectrum's principals. Except for this delay and the resulting concern about my tenants running out of fuel, the installation went very smoothly and I am quite pleased with the result. <br />"

"Robert Demic Inc worked on our roof. He had a fair price. He did come right when he said he would. Didn't charge an unreasonable amount. He did a pretty good job. The roof still leaked and he came back, it wasn't his fault there was a lot. He came back and fixed it for a very reasonable price and did our old porch roof. Very honest, reasonable, experienced and skilled. It's hard to find someone who is 100% totally honest. He was. He was very, very good. <br />"

"This provider was very friendly, punctual and professional and assisted with looking at condition of the deck and replacing only what was necessary as I could not afford a new deck. He also looked at condition of my roof and plumbing under my sink. He provided pictures of his carpentry work prior to starting the carpentry jobs per my request. It was obvious he had completed some large beautiful decks. he was honest in his capabilities and was great with the plumbing that would have cost me much more to hire a master plumber to fix leak. Pipes needed to be replaced and re-soldered under the kitchen sink, An annoying tiny leak for years was now fixed. While replacing the floor board he noticed my heat vent was not connected to the register. He told me what fitting I needed and that was installed. I now have heat into my kitchen through this additional register instead of it running through ceiling in the basement. he noticed my front storm door needed adjusting to stay closed and recommended tips and fixed that. He gave me tips on when to stain new pressure treated wood as I wanted to do this myself. <br /> Receipts for any purchases were provided for viewing prior to payment. This provider is a great carpenter and is honest about any additional work stating he does not do electrical work. <br /> Very professional and helpful and would hire him again for some additional carpentry work."

"Dave and his team performed excellent work. We purchased the house knowing it needed a new roof, and, two years later, it became apparent that we shouldn't go through another winter without having it replaced. Dave had provided a quote in 2017 and provided us with a quick updated quote which was very fair. Within a few days of providing the down payment, work began and was completed within four days. Realize that in the winter, the work will take longer due to the cold and other weather disruptions. His crew was considerate and polite. The driveway was left clear in front of the garage so that we could still park inside. They were usually on site by 9 and finished mid-afternoon. The yard was left pretty clean, realizing that it is difficult to pick up all debris with snow and early darkness. When he came by to pick up the balance, I found Dave outside picking up debris. He said he'd be back in the spring to pick up any nails obscured by snow, which I appreciate as I didn't expect that. The roof looks great and I appreciate their integrity and politeness in addition to solid worksmanship. Thanks!"

"First, let me say that Alex (the company owner) and his team at Salem Home Improvement provided, unequivocally, the best experience we've had with a home improvement/repair company. Work done: We had a full bathroom that needed a complete renovation (completely gutted, walls and floor). The room was gutted. New walls and floor installed. New fixtures installed (tub, sink, toilet, vanity, lighting). New door and frame installed. Wood trim in many places, and new baseboard installed. New tile installed on floor and wall. Painting. I may have missed something as there were so many details. Performance of work: At the time we signed the contract, Alex told us the project would be done in 6-8 days. It was completed in 6. Alex and his team are the most diligent and hardworking that we have seen. Alex was on site every day. They arrived on time every day, and worked a minimum of 8 hours each day. One day they worked for 12 hours. We were amazed at what was accomplished in 6 days! Quality of work: Excellent. Especially considering the variety of tasks involved. They paid very close attention to detail. The result is a beautiful, brand-new bathroom, beyond even what we thought it would be. Work Environment: Alex and his team are good people. They are polite, kind, and respectful. They obviously enjoy what they are doing, which is good for them and the customer! It's apparent that Alex cares deeply about his work, and wanted to ensure we were happy and had no reservations with the final result. A P.S.: A minor adjustment needed to be made to the tub faucet (this was discovered a day or so after the work was completed). I contacted Alex to ask for the correct size of the tool to make the adjustment. Unasked, Alex came to the house in the evening and made the adjustment. I suspect that he did this after his workday was done and I envision him trying to relax for the next day. I know this took over an hour of his time. We would hire Salem Home Improvement again, with no hesitation, and will recommend them to others if the occasion arises."

"Not sure how to rate this. I left a message via Angie's List and never heard back. I'm not sure if the message process on this website is something the contractor actually uses, or prefers, or if it is set up independently for them by Angie's List. This is not the only time I have left a message and not gotten a response. Ordinarily I would rate the lack of response as an "F". I will call this a "C" since I don't really know where the fault lies."

"Having the porch built was amazing.  We had used another builder once before and were dissatisfied.  Not so with Ben. We enjoyed having him around. He was reliable and prompt.  He did a wonderful job - we had a party to celebrate the new porch and everyone was amazed at how nice it is and how well made."

FAQs for thermostat installation and replacement projects in South Hero, VT

Smart thermostats may be worth it for many homeowners. They come with various features, including voice control and smartphone apps. Vacation mode can help lower energy usage when you’re out of town for an extended period. Alert warnings let you know about major spikes or drops in temperature. Smartphone apps can track energy usage, and smart thermostats can learn your routine over time to adjust your temperature and reduce wasted energy consumption automatically.

You typically do not need more than one smart thermostat. While it’s common to see multiple mechanical thermostats throughout a large home, multiple smart thermostats may try to override each other. This can lead to problems with the HVAC system. Ensure the unit you buy has the option for dual- or multi-zoned systems to avoid compatibility issues.

Installing a programmable or smart thermostat may save you $180 per year in utility costs. A big part of this comes from a smart thermostat’s ability to learn and adapt to your regular routines. With smartphone apps or web-based interfaces, you also have the option to control your thermostat when you’re not home.
