"We had a gas leak that needed to be addressed immediately and Nathan from Triangle Plumbing saved the day! He came out the same day I contacted him, quickly diagnosed the issue and gave us a very fair estimate. (Much better than a different quote we got) He fixed the leak quickly and we were able to get Peoples Gas to turn the gas back on without any issues. Weâ ll definitely be contacting Triangle Plumbing for future plumbing needs, thank you!"

"Eric and Michael were outstanding. It was easy to communicate with Eric to schedule the appointment. They were punctual and knew exactly what to do to run the gas line to my fireplace. After the conversion was complete, I wanted to swap the grate that came with the gas logs for the grate I already had. Eric and Michael were happy to oblige so I could get exactly the look I wanted. I plan to also call Perrin Gas next time I need to replace my gas water heater. I highly recommend their work."

"3 weeks after moving in, an overnight sewage backup formed in the basement. At the same time, the kitchen sink would barely drain and was backing up into the other sink. Plumbing nightmare. I called Jim Dhamer Plumbing and they sent 4 guys out same day. They quickly diagnosed the issue and extensively rodded both drains. They also located an old school small sewer under the driveway with a pump system, which they cleaned out as well. Shortly everything was working perfectly - good as new. Outstanding service and I appreciated the team taking the time to explain what was happening, why, and how to prevent this type of issue in old homes. Rust had accumulated in the pipes while not in use during a remodel, paper etc. got caught on the rust, and the prior owner apparently flushed wet wipes (which are technically "flushable" but a big no no in older homes). Chaos followed. very grateful for the incredible service, quick resolution, and fair price. Jim Dhamer Plumbing is my new "go to" and I would not hesitate to hire again."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Thornton, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
