"Tyler came right over within an hour and did a great job installing a new water heater. From first contact to finished installation it was only about 7 hours. Friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend Murray Plumbing to anyone looking for good plumbing work at a fair price."

"They were extremely punctual for both the estimate, and the actual installation, with full explanation of how the machine works including the comparison between the cost of a tankless and a standard heater,. In addition, there has been some vibration noise (that only one member of the family can hear!) and they have been extremely thorough in working to lessen it, while being cheerful through the whole process, despite having to make extra trips to do so."

"The team that came out to do the work was great. They arrived early and worked very quickly and efficiently and after the first day had almost completely finished the job. One of the craftsmen had to come back out the following morning to apply a second coat of paint and attach a piece of trim to the French doors because of the significant gap (approx 1/2") that was left by cutting the doors just a little bit too short. That being said, everything came out looking great and we were very pleased with the actual work that was performed.
However, they could have been a little more transparent on pricing. The SOW I was sent via e-mail had an "estimate" which varied by almost $200 ($1545-1740) even though I provided all of the materials up front. A a result of the price range I assumed it meant I was paying on a Time & Materials (T&M) basis. When the craftsman finished and showed me what the bill was he showed his version of the SOW which had a range of hours for the job (26 total on the high end) and an hourly rate of $65. All total, there were 16.25 man hours of labor on the work at my house which on a T&M basis would come out to $1056.25. Because they got done so quickly I assumed I would be paying less but he told me I needed to pay the low end of the "estimate" which totaled $1545. When I spoke to Jill on the phone about this she told me this was a bid job (not T&M), even though nothing was explicitly stated on the SOW. I told her I deal with SOWs all the time and I've never seen a bid estimate that has a price range when the only variable on the job is labor. If you're giving a bid estimate I would normally expect to see a fixed price the job is going to cost, regardless of the amount of labor that ends up being involved. It isn't exactly fair to the customer to say something is a bid estimate and then charge them according to how long it took to complete the job. Regardless, I still received a $45 credit from the amount I paid up front when they came out as well as $100 off for being an Angie's List subscriber. I was very pleased with the work that was done, but think they should be a little more specific if something is going to be a bid job. Give a customer an exact price it will cost (regardless of the amount of time something actually takes) or charge them on a T&M basis. You can't have it both ways and charge more/less because you didn't estimate the job well. Or give the customer the choice of how they want to be billed.
I'm not naive enough to not realize that by giving a bid, there is more incentive for the company to work quickly, as the faster they get done, the higher the realized hourly rate for their services. On a T&M basis, they can take their time because they're getting paid regardless. In my case, they finished faster than even they had expected and still wanted to charge me the "minimum" bid amount, even though it would have been almost $500 cheaper to do the job on a T&M basis. Just a little shady if you ask me. Do yourself a favor and ask for a fixed bid up front or tell them to charge you by the hour.

"While I ended up spending $1300 more than expected I knew it was time to replace that 15-year-old contractor-grade water heater. The other services were taken care of and my discount was applied. I will use this company again."

"He was able to quickly diagnose that the water leak from the water heater was a result of a ruptured tank, resulting in the need to replace the entire water heater."
