"A relatively new TPO roof began leaking after a plumbing vent was relocated. The plumber had sealed the abandoned opening from above, but the patch was not welded to the existing membrane and started lifting at the edges. Water entered during the next period of wind-driven rain. The roof field, seams, and perimeter were inspected before a repair was recommended. Moisture was limited to a small area surrounding the former vent, and the insulation beyond it remained dry. There was no evidence supporting replacement of the complete roof. The temporary patch and wet materials were removed. The deck opening was properly closed, replacement insulation was fitted, and compatible TPO membrane was hot-air welded over the repair. A second patch was installed where tools had punctured the surface beside the active vent.
