"Phil and his team did a great job and had great suggestions to how to accomplish what I was looking to do. They took all my downspouts below ground, combined them together including my sump pump and installed pop up emitters. Overall, it is a much better solution than the previous plastic flex pipes that discharged directly on my lawn. Also regraded a few poor drainage areas of the yard. I thought the pricing was reasonable and would hire them again."

"The PVI Group, LLC did an excellent job replacing my driveway. In one day, Corey Henderson and his crew broke up/removed my old driveway, prepared the area, and poured a new driveway. The new driveway looks great; we are very pleased with result. The entire job was done very efficiently and professionally. Corey’s team was particularly courteous and customer centered. I would highly recommend PVI Group, LLC for any concrete or paving work. Thanks for a job well done."

"Install went smoothly and very quickly. He was a upfront about possible issues and how they would mitigate them. Since it was a small job, he cut us a deal sourcing pavers leftover from a previous job."

"We had a great experience working with Ricardo and GPRO! Ricardo was prompt with the estimate and easy to communicate with. The team was prompt on the day of install. They did great work and even went above what we discussed to make sure the retaining wall would be secure. The job was finished in one day and everything was left looking much better than they found it. We would certainly hire them again!"

"I contacted 4 "A"-rated tree companies on Angie's List and got quotes from each pretty quickly.  Freestate was the lowest-cost, easiest to schedule, and was the most responsive and friendly.  I didn't have to be home for the quote, which was convenient because we were going on vacation.  After comparing the quotes and selecting Freestate, they were able to fit us in the next week.  They arrived early in the morning as communicated, and crew worked quickly and safely, minimizing any damage to the yard or risk to our house.  I was impressed with how nice the maple trees looked after trimming, and we're delighted to no longer have the risk of the dying locust tree coming down in a storm.  I'd highly recommend them!

"We are so pleased with the work completed by Oscar and the crew from Solid Brick Contracting. We have had a pretty big project including paving the driveway, removing bushes, installing underground pipes and drain, staining deck, etc. They are always responsive and reliable. They communicate with a clear timeline and ideas throughout the project. We appreciate their work and would definitely like to recommend them to anyone else."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in White Marsh, MD

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
