"This is the first review I have ever submitted for a contractor. However, when a company offers this outstanding level of service they have more than earned a five star rating! After a severe windstorm damaged my roof, I called my insurance company and then researched / contacted several roofers in my area. As a result of so much damage most roofing companies were extremely busy. Walter Brown was the only one who had their staff working diligently to take calls, and somehow managed to fit me into their schedule even though they were inundated with emergency work. Two workers arrived as the rain started and tarped the damaged areas. Everyone at Walter Brown consistently replied to my emails and continued to stay in touch with me as we worked through the color selection and scheduling of replacing my roof. I researched brands of shingles before John Cisna came to my house to discuss the brand that they install. "William MacKay Roofing is a family business.  I purchased a package from this company to have my roof inspected since more than 20 years have passed since it had been replaced.  The MacKays arrived promptly as stated when we made the appointment. The employees were very professional, my roof was inspected, and I was shown pictures of my roof with an explanation of the its condition.  Since my roof did not need to be replaced, I advised Mr. MacKay that I would call him to replace my roof when that time came.  I was very satisfied with the services provided by this company and would definitely use them again because of the excellent services that I received with this inspection.

"They did a great job on the siding.  With the insulation they didn't set it down they kind of laid it on top of some things instead of sitting it down on the joist.  As soon as I called them they came out and gave me an estimate then we scheduled the work.  It was fairly quick.  I would give them an A for the siding and a C for the insulation.  I think the price was reasonable.  For siding I would use them again but for insulation I don't think I would use them again."

"A+ for ethics and professionalism. The repair on our old and non-standard roof was tricky and ultimately didn't last (roof leaked within 14 months). However, when the owner was contacted (he's busy so it took a while) he came out personally and arranged for an alternative fix to the roof. The owner, Dave Garner, did this at no charge, without being asked. We still don't know if we have a permanent solution but we're really impressed with Dave and the company's business practices. We would be pleased to use them for any future roofing repairs (although we hope we don't have any!)."

"I hired this company based on reviews from Angie's list.  My experience was a bit different than the A + rating they had.  The answered my call for a quote and arrived on time.  The communicated in Spanish about everything.  We all walked the house together and I pointed out everything that needed painting.  We had a discussion about the master bath, the last words I heard George senior tell me was "we can fix this".  They quoted me a price of $3400.00 and said if I got everything done at once, he would take $200.00 off.  I didn't get other quotes because I just moved in and time was a factor, so I can't really comment on price.  During the week, they dropped of a large paint sample thing to make may choices from.  They arrived early to start the two-day job, a Friday and a Saturday.  They finished the job on Saturday, as promised.  My master bath was not painted, the wood on the steps was not painted, they removed all the drapery hardware and it was tossed out apparently, they took a blind down in the master bedroom and I had to remind many times for them to fix it, they did with crazy glue.  The walls and ceiling are beautiful but the trim is horrible.  I am still painting over spots that were missed or the paint was wiped off when they cleaned the floors.  There was a quarter sized drop of paint on my maple dining room table.  There was a large spot of white trim paint on the colored wall in the hall, but worst of all I continue to clean small spots and areas where there is white paint on the oak floors. They did do me one favor and lift a TV back up above the fireplace that had been taken down for painting. They did leave all the extra paint in the basement, one bucket not closed and has a paint roller floating in it.  The worst thing was them teasing my dogs and getting them agitated and pushing each other towards them and laughing.  Overall, I don't think I had an "A" experience.  Unfortunately I would not recommend them or use them again.

"I gave them a B on price, because it wasn't anything spectacular, but it was certainly fair. After a week or so, it rained and we saw there was a slight leak on the gutters. Mr. McGavin came by on July 4th and fixed it."

"Overview of Issue/Repair:
3 Level Townhome (finished basement):
Sliding door off kitchen on second floor was incorrectly flashed.  Due to this, the door needed to be removed, repaired/re-flashed, and reinstalled.  A section of "sinking" kitchen subfloor around this sliding door was also replaced    *Note: at this point we could have purchased a replacement door and had this installed at no additional cost; due to our budget, we decided to re-use the current slider* .  Additionally, a majority of the plywood and window framing below, in the basement, was rotted out. Siding was removed and replaced after all the rot was repaired with fresh plywood and framing.  We did take this opportunity to replace the 2 windows while they were out.
Overview of Experience:
It was apparent from the start that Timothy is clearly focused on understanding and providing what the customer wants/needs and not just obtaining a signed contract.  Timothy met with me in person and on the phone a handful of times prior to finalizing our contract.  Throughout the entire process I felt comfortable reaching out to him for advice and clarification, and never felt as if my questions were "elementary" or annoying.  
Timothy was on site each morning to see progress and ensure that everything was meeting our standard.  It is great to have this interaction with the owner.  Additionally, all of his team is punctual, knowledgeable, and friendly.  They take time to show and educate you as they are performing work.  Our family could not be happier with our decision to go with Timothy's Home Improvement; we look forward to future projects!
