"They came to give their estimate, gave the number were were expecting given the replumbing and heavy lifting involved, and then showed up when they said they would and got the work done quickly. Shortly after they did our sink we had some pipes freeze (separate area) and couldn't get them warmed up with traditional methods. They came out to have a look at it and got them flowing again without much time or effort (turns out we were almost there) - because it was so quick, even though they came out on emergency, they didn't charge us. They have always been quick, courteous and reasonably priced and we've had several plumbing jobs performed by this company with great satisfaction."

"Three visits - problem solved. I very much appreciated their professionalism and that they explained what caused the problem and how they had fixed it. They even made suggestions for avoiding the particular clogged pipe in the future."

"Louis was great. He did exactly what I was hoping and we haven't had any problems with drainage or leaking. He was quick and the end result looks great. The only thing I was a little annoyed with was that he left the old pipes behind. I thought that he would have taken those and thrown them away. It's not really a huge deal since we're going to be getting a dumpster soon anyway."

"I needed to plumb a new whole house generator with natural gas, so why not plan on converting everything to natural gas as the appliance needs replacing (propane hot water and stove) right????? I called TOM'S PLUMBING after doing a search on ANGIE'S LIST for a professional. I figured I would get 5 quotes, narrow it down to 3 and then really compare the 3 and decide on one. I did contact 5 professionals and all came to the house and reviewed the job. So, I decided on TOM's PLUMBING after reviewing the 3 and even with a couple of quick revisions to the job, we were able to schedule it in for the following week. This one point was very important to me as we were going to be leaving for vacation, and if I could get this project done, one less thing for me to think about. Tom and his associate Chris showed up right on time on the scheduled day, which was a hot one. They went right to work regardless of the heat, and completed on time. One way I judge a service is whether or not i would hire them again. In regards to TOM's PLUMBING, yes, I would CERTAINLY hire them again, and in fact, I'm already contemplating a couple of new projects. In summary, TOM's PLUMBING is as professional as they come and yet, small enough to be able to work with a home owner for any and all revisions, I mean, we all know things come up. Tom was always available for any questions or concerns and I knew I was in good hands. so not only would I hire them again, I would recommend TOM's PLUMBING to family and friends, which is really what we all care about!!!"

"We were very impressed with this company from beginning to end. A pipe in the basement began leaking through a dropped ceiling one evening. It was an emergency as the leak was severe. We first called two companies who claimed to have and quot;24 hourand quot; emergency service, and both said they could not come out until the morning. We then called Statewide, who came within an hour. <br /> The plumber found the leak (having to break through the dropped ceiling, which we gave him permission to do since it was ruined anyway), and pointed out that almost all of our cold and hot water pipes were corroded and needed replacing - not only those under that ceiling but the exposed ones in the rest of the basement. (A few were copper and had been replaced, but the rest were original.) We believed him because he could show us exactly where the corrosion points on each of them were; they were original brass pipes from the 1940's, and indeed another plumber had pointed this problem out to us years ago and we simply ignored it. The estimate they gave us for replacing all of these pipes was considerably less than the estimate we had gotten several years ago (they were able to replace them with a new plastic material, costing a lot less than copper). They were careful not to replace the copper ones which were newer; only the very old ones. <br /> They came exactly when they said they would, stuck to their exact estimate, and - while they had told us it might take and quot;most of the dayand quot; - they were finished by early afternoon. They were very professional, and cleaned up beautifully after their work. <br /> Rarely have we had such a satisfactory experience for a major plumbing issue, and we would certainly use them again."

"<p>Rob showed exactly as scheduled. Made the appointment with Brad only a few days earlier. Work took about 6.5 hours. On the fly, Rob was able to correct an issue with the boiler draft that was identified by RISE earlier that morning. And also replaced the expansion tank which was not part of the original work order.</p> <p>All the copper piping looks great and no leaks. New heater provides plenty of HW with a high recovery rate. Brad recommended this model due to it's superior insulation and all-stainless steel construction... I was looking along these lines, as it worked out.</p> <p>Rob set the boiler at 130* and the mixing valve output at 120*; explained how to adjust if necessary. Explained the priority zone operation for the zone valve controller.</p> <p>Very happy with this installation; should outlast my lifetime !!</p>"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Block Island, RI

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
