"I came home from work to find our 40-gallon water heater was not working (it was working that morning). The pilot was out and I could not get it re-lit (I do know how to light a pilot) After checking a number of companies on Angie's List, I contacted DB's Plumbing and Drain. Although it was almost 6pm, a very nice person answered the phone and I explained my dilemma. I was told they could send someone that night but would have to charge an after-hours rate. I was reasonably certain what was wrong would not be a simple fix like re-lighting a pilot so scheduled a visit for the following morning between 10 am and 12 noon. Michael D arrived shortly after 10 am. He was very courteous, polite and professional. Before entering my home, he donned a pair of shoe covers which was kept on as long as he was in the house. He diagnosed the problem as being a failed main burner system. As the water heater was 14-years-old, I weighed the cost of replacing just the main burner system on such an old unit against replacing the unit itself. I opted for the water heater replacement. Michael setup the old unit to drain while he went to retrieve the new one from their warehouse which took him about 45 minutes. Upon his return, he removed the old unit and cleaned up the area. He then cut back the existing copper lines to eliminate the numerous soldered couplings from the previous homeowner's repairs. He installed new copper pipes including a new quarter turn shut-off valve. A catch pan was placed and the water heater setup in it. Up reconnecting the gas line, he installed a sediment trap or drip leg (it did not have one previously) which catches sediment sometimes present in natural gas. After bringing the system online, Michael checked the gas line connections for leaks using a detection monitor. The installation was clean and neat and it is obvious Michael is conscientious about his work. Always interested in how things in my home work, Michael was very gracious in answering my questions regarding the installation. I am very happy with the install.and would like to thank Michael for his professionalism and the education."

He had all of the necessary parts and equipment on his truck and was completely done with the project -- replacing the glass and seals of my gas fireplace -- within 45 minutes. While the old glass was removed, he cleaned the interior of the fireplace and replaced the old embers, neither of which was required by the contract. After putting the new glass and seals in place, he then tested to ensure no carbon monoxide was seeping into the house. The fireplace looks like it is brand new and it functions perfectly. "The company utilized a "pull-and-replace" technique as follows: 1) excavated the water pipe at the house and at the street; cut the water line at those two places; 2) ran an 80 ft. steel cable from the street to the house; 3) attached a "pyramid-knife" to the steel cable and then attached the copper replacement pipe to the pyramid-knife. 4) tractor-pulled the pyramid-knife and copper tubing through the old poly-tube pipe, cutting it as it went and replacing it with the copper pipe in one continuous operation. 5) all excavations restored to original condition at close of the work. Process was ingenious and saved all of my trees from root damage (and potential dying in a couple of years.) No digging trenches. The technician was completely professional, competent and courteous. He explained each step as it went. He was also clearly proud of his work and finished every step with complete attention to detail, thoroughness and professionalism. The job took about six hours to complete and went off without a hitch. I am completely satisfied with the work and recommend this company highly ."
