"Jose and crew were timely, conscientious, great communicator, hard-working and tidy. They treated my little 1940 cabin in the desert like a brand new home. They worked with the materials I supplied and it was very enjoyable listening to them enjoying their work. I would highly recommend them.!"

"Paul and his guys remodeled our kitchen. They worked around our schedules and still got the job done quickly so we weren't without our kitchen for very long. Now I have a beautiful new kitchen. I also have some other remodeling projects that I hope to get done in the near future and will definitely reach out to G&D Construction again for these jobs."

"Thank god we called Hometown Restoration when we had a major leak at our home that caused mold in our kitchen. They did an amazing job. Not only was their team incredibly professional, their cabinet and flooring expert did an amazing job at repairing the damaged floor we had in our living and family room and the cabinets in our kitchen which had to be removed to address the mold. Definitely an excellent company to choose for mold remediation."

"From start to finish the project progressed smoothly. Every craftsman that worked on the project was professional, courteous and prompt. Tasks were finished on time. The lead man on the project was an excellent communicator, possesses a positive attitude and great work ethic. He met all challenges although he was working on a home constructed 40 years ago. He did a beautiful job. We would not hesitate to call on Bath Planet Atlanta again."

"Loved my experience with Harvest. Quick, professional service and friendly staff. Highly recommend! I had 3 scheduled quotes from other companies (the only ones to call back and show up). These guys answer the phone, show up on time and the Crew did tear down and new install in TWO days. Couldn’t be happier with the quality. Our fence is beautiful. The installation did a wonderful job!"

"The Good
-------------------------------------------
Arrived a little bit early.
Began work right away.
Asked before doing work that would add to the bill beyond the coupon.
Seemed to do a good job.
Some things to note
---------------------------
If I hadn't asked, they'd have left all the debris laying on my lawn which really surprised me.  When I did ask, they offered to cut it up and put in in my trash can.  I accepted and they did do that, but only because I'd asked.  They do not haul away the debris the job creates.
Because Home Depot will call you and ask about any purchases they need to make, that's where they go, so I ended up with a little extra labor time for that even though Lowe's was much closer.
Apparently, they've been burned by customers who didn't pay, so their policy seems to be that they don't trust you at all.  Once the value of the coupon runs out, they don't do another thing until you pay for the additional charges even after being told it is okay if it extends a couple of hours to finish up.  I don't know if they'd alter that a little if they'd done several jobs for you and you'd always paid them (one would hope that they would).
-----------------------------
On the whole, I think they did well.  Well enough that I did later buy an additional coupon that I haven't used yet.

"Very well, they started on time, did not come very early (8-9:30), worked until around 6 PM each day, had an onsite forman who communicated with me. Delayed a few days by weather, but I expected that. The work looks beautiful. I had some interior painting done by this contractor last spring. I was happy with that, so decided to use him on a much bigger job, and am happy I did."

FAQs for new home building projects in Douglasville, GA

The affordability of wood species varies by region and availability. Eastern white pine represents the most economical option for many areas, while Douglas fir offers a mid-range alternative with excellent strength characteristics. Oak and other hardwoods command premium prices, but they also provide superior durability. Your choice should balance initial cost against long-term performance needs and the structural requirements of your specific design.

Timber frame homes require the same basic building permits as conventional construction, but may need additional engineering documentation. Some jurisdictions require structural calculations and stamped drawings, particularly for designs with large open spans or unusual load distributions. Local building departments might have specific requirements for timber connections and fire resistance ratings. Consulting with officials early in your planning process helps avoid costly surprises.

The construction timeline for a timber frame home ranges from six months to over a year, depending on the project's complexity and size. The frame preparation phase, during which timbers are cut and test-fitted in a workshop, can take several weeks to several months. The actual frame raising can occur relatively quickly—often in just a few days—but finishing work follows a similar timeline to conventional construction. Weather conditions and contractor availability also affect scheduling.

Larger timber members actually offer inherent fire resistance advantages over smaller dimensional lumber. Massive beams char on their exterior while maintaining their structural integrity at their core, potentially giving occupants more time to evacuate during a fire. This contrasts with thinner framing members that can fail more quickly when exposed to flames. However, comprehensive fire safety depends on multiple factors, including insulation materials, interior finishes, and properly designed electrical systems.

Timber frame construction adapts well to diverse climate conditions when proper design considerations are taken into account. In cold regions, the structure pairs excellently with high-performance insulation systems. For humid environments, selecting, treating, and managing moisture in wood becomes critical. Coastal areas may require special design considerations for wind resistance and salt exposure. Working with designers familiar with your specific climate ensures the selection of appropriate materials and construction details for long-term performance.
