I hired Garden State Water Heaters because their price was a few hundred less than a plumber's estimate. I was replacing a Bradford - White 40gal water heater that lasted over a dozen years. I asked Carmen several times if his estimate was for another Bradford - White like mine and he said yes. When I later looked at the receipt I saw that they had installed a Rheem. Granted, it's ratings are as good as B-W, but B-W is superior in energy savings. Carmen should have discussed the need for the change with me beforehand. They also charged me extra because I needed a shorter water heater. That made no sense. They had to change the date of the install due to snow where they are in north Jersey. I specifically asked for the first appointment because I sleep during the day and had to wait up for them. They didn't show or call at the start of the next day, when I again waited up for them. We called around 10:30 and were told they were coming in the afternoon. That was not good because we had a medical appointment. Now I did not have time to go to bed before my appointment. We had to reschedule the water heater again, and I had to wait up for them a third day. The install took a lot longer than the one hour they said because they had to upgrade and enlarge my vent pipe. By that time the project cost as much as the plumber wanted, and that would have been completed the first morning. (I know the plumber would have likely charged more for the necessary upgrade, but maybe he anticipated that.) In addition, both Carmen and the installers told me they would take care of filing the permit and send it directly to the Township. Instead, they mailed it to us, for us to have to turn around and take it to the post office (the envelope was oversized)!! We're both elderly and disabled and we still haven't been able to mail it. (Gotta love our Township - can't drop it off as they're still closed "due to Covid.") Part of the reason I hired Garden State was because they said they would file the permit (by mail). So, Garden State is great at phoning at 7 AM because they saw my request for a list of contractors on Angi's even though I did not request a quote from them, but communication as to changes in materials to be used, possible project additions, and schedule changes is negligible to non - existent. Still, I believe they installed a very good product, did it well, brought us up to code, and charged a fair price. My only problem with the installers was that they did not sweep up when they were done.

    Cheaper for a reason

    Response from Company:

Hi Chong, You wrote cheaper for a reason. Which I find offensive. We are competitively priced and we do not rob our customers. We have a lot of great reviews on here so we would be grateful if you could elaborate. Kind regards, Dawn.

Anthony and Roger, the Plumbers, are friendly, knowledgeable, and proficient. They assessed the area of the water heater. Simultaneously, they shared their problem-solving skills and quickly devised the best action. I recommend Garden State Water Heaters to family and friends.

    Response from Company:

Thank you Dolores for your awesome review we really appreciate it!
