"I had some water collecting in my hot water heater pan, and had R Plumber come out. The pros: They come right away when I called first thing in the morning, they had the tools to fix the issue quickly, and the price was about where I suspected it would be. The cons: The first diagnostic was that my (less than two years old) water heater was leaking. When I told them that didn't make sense, they then did some more investigating and realized the condensation line from my AC unit wasn't draining out of my condo and was backing up into my pan, which was correct, however the suggestion was that the installation of my water heater was correct and that the heater and pan needed to be elevated so the water didn't back up. When I again said that didn't make sense as this was my second summer with the AC running and I hadn't had an issue before, they said there was a possibility the line was clogged. I had mentioned that someone in my building had a similar issue at the beginning of the conversation, but it seemed to take a long time to get to the actual issue, which is what I had suspected from the very beginning. While we ultimately got to the heart of the problem and fixed it quickly, it was a frustrating for me to have to push back so much to get to the right answer."

"At 9:40, I got a call from dispatch saying that Josh would arrive between 10-10:15, and he showed up a few minutes before 10! Josh was able to quickly deduce that our pumps were still working, and was able to install a drain safety on our condensate lines for $285 each. The drain safety is a) clear, so we can monitor any blockages, b) has a brush and two little ports for us to clean it out if needed, and pour bleach in periodically to disinfect the lines, c) will automatically shut off if it gets backed up to prevent future backups and alert us to any issues. Before he left, Josh not only walked us through how to clean out the pipes and where to pour the bleach, but tidied up some of the cables in there with zip ties and replaced the air filter with new ones we had at the ready. $285 each for peace of mind is totally worth it and we'll be calling Sila to schedule installation of drain safeties for our two lower units once we can contact the residents! The work involves 1) nailing a piece of 1X4 lumber to the joist to create a horizontal cross beam for a security monitor camera so it can turn 360 degrees to monitor Racoon activity, 2) dealing with thick insulation materials in the attic, 3) Installed an outlet for the camera 4) has to be careful not to step on the ceiling. By no means is this a simple, ordinary task. I am glad the Technician was able to perform the job well. Unfortunately, they are very expensive."
