"My husband and I are senior citizens. We hired Priority plumbing with owner Mike Cambio for a bathroom renovation. He agreed to install shower pan & walls, install vanity, install toilet and install heating element. He talked us into additional plumbing work for $6000 and replaced our furnace and hot water tank for overheating additional $12000. Lots of money. He had problems with install of furnace, he returned several times, the heat was shutting down. Mike was becoming frustrated and he attitude changed. Several weeks later we caller him back to finish bathroom. He insisted that we needed to install our own vanity or he will charge us extra. He also did not like installing the shower walls, threatened angrily that it would cost extra. Mike became verbally abusive with me on phone a behavior also witnessed towards his employees. After he and his 3 workers left there was a gouge in vanity door which he became very angry again and blamed me for damage. Not the person you want to hire"

"I called 2 times prior to today’s visit and they came the next day. Each day there were 2 men on the job. I clearly had/have a Freon leak and it was explained to me I would have to have my walls opened in order to find the line set. Today’s visit, I clearly explained over the phone the job that needed to be done. They 2 prior visits they could not find the leak in the normal places. I was advised it was $250/hour. I agreed. I just wanted my leak fixed. ONE guy shows up, different than the other 4 that had showed up. Says it’s too hard to find the leak. Fills my freon back up and says call us in the spring and we can replace your air handler."

"I needed to plumb a new whole house generator with natural gas, so why not plan on converting everything to natural gas as the appliance needs replacing (propane hot water and stove) right????? I called TOM'S PLUMBING after doing a search on ANGIE'S LIST for a professional. I figured I would get 5 quotes, narrow it down to 3 and then really compare the 3 and decide on one. I did contact 5 professionals and all came to the house and reviewed the job. So, I decided on TOM's PLUMBING after reviewing the 3 and even with a couple of quick revisions to the job, we were able to schedule it in for the following week. This one point was very important to me as we were going to be leaving for vacation, and if I could get this project done, one less thing for me to think about. Tom and his associate Chris showed up right on time on the scheduled day, which was a hot one. They went right to work regardless of the heat, and completed on time. One way I judge a service is whether or not i would hire them again. In regards to TOM's PLUMBING, yes, I would CERTAINLY hire them again, and in fact, I'm already contemplating a couple of new projects. In summary, TOM's PLUMBING is as professional as they come and yet, small enough to be able to work with a home owner for any and all revisions, I mean, we all know things come up. Tom was always available for any questions or concerns and I knew I was in good hands. so not only would I hire them again, I would recommend TOM's PLUMBING to family and friends, which is really what we all care about!!!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Block Island, RI

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
