"Itâ s never a good thing to have a plumbing issue, especially when it happens on the weekend! One call to After Hours Plumbing was all it took. They quoted me a very reasonable rate (hundreds of dollars less than anywhere else I called), were very professional and prompt, and did an excellent job. "My toilets bubbled and water backed up in my shower and bathtub while my washer was draining. I called Carson Plumbing at 8:00 am, and by noon, two very professional and capable young men were at my house. They examined drainage lines while washer was draining to ensure that pipes were no longer clogged. At my request, they also inspected my 23 year old hot water heater, and reassured me that it was still functioning well. <br />"

"Jerry was awesome. He came out, assessed the situation and gave us a few options. We elected to have him just the slab and repair the pipe in place rather try to reroute. He quoted $675. All the work was done while we were out of the house so we did not know how easy or difficult it was. Jerry broke through the slab and replaced about 10 feet of pipe. He also had to go under a cinder block wall to replace the junction. After all that he repoored the cement floor. Once all was said he done he only charged us $550. He didn't have to do that. It would have been well worth the original quote. My only regret is that I did not submit this review earlier. THANK YOU JERRY!!"

"Plumber Pro Service and Drain handled everything including researching the proper faucets to use, opening walls and ceilings where needed, and replacing pipes. The plumber who came to us was a gentleman named Russell Miller and he is top notch! The areas where he worked were left cleaner than he found them and in a matter of hours he transformed our access to outdoor water supplies from unworkable to optimal operation! We are having Plumber Pro Service and Drsin back to do more work and I recommend them very highly!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Athens, GA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
