"Owner of the company came to my property and he gave me a thorough bid covering the cleanup and disposal of 30 yrs of debris. He had his own dumpster trailers and his own equipment necessary to do the job. I am a very environmentally conscious person and he took the time to separate recyclables and lawn debris in different dumpsters for removal. He also gave me a fair bid to do the differed maintenance on my out buildings around my property and was able to restore multiple buildings that other contractors said would have to be torn down-removed and built new at a larger expense. We’ve recently had him back to build a hot tub surround with transparent roofing out of 120 yrs old barn wood posts that was saved from a building that couldn’t be remodeled. Definitely will have him back for future projects, highly recommended."

"We hired Fine Finish (Mark) to design and build a 2-car attached garage with partially finished space overhead, including a small finished office.
It's hard to list all the ways Mark and Travis went above and beyond during our garage addition project. First, they worked through some of the worst weather an Oregon winter has to offer. While most of Portland was crippled due to flooding, Mark and Travis were hauling shingles up a 2-story ladder and installing our roof. When they were planning the gutter installation, they noticed that our existing gutters were still full of oak leaves. So they cleaned the gutters. They were especially patient with our 18 month-old son, who affectionately referred to them as the ?guys? and took a keen interest in everything they did.
Mark anticipated future design aspects that we hadn?t thought of like leaving space and wiring in the garage for a central HVAC
system. He asked insightful questions about future plans to make sure our money was spent wisely, now and in the future. Even during the design phase, Mark was very transparent about different cost-saving options and associated tradeoffs. 
We expected that once the work started, we would mostly be dealing with subcontractors. To our surprise, only the foundation work, gutters, and garage door installation were sub-contracted. Mark and Travis did all of the framing and finish work themselves. As a result, the quality of our addition is noticeably superior to that of our original home.
If you want someone to hire an army of people to throw your project together as quickly as possible, look elsewhere. If you want the attention to detail of a craftsman and an honest, no-nonsense interaction with someone who takes pride in his work and has your best interests at heart, talk to Mark. We?re glad we did and we?ll definitely be back in the future.

"They put moldings over a closet and punctured the tracks so the doors couldn't slide.  That created an extra job for my husband who had to redo it.  One window they framed and did a good job the other had a few gaps that I can fix with caulk.  The closet they framed was uneven by about a half inch on one side.  So good job for getting a few things finished but not very detail oriented.

"The deck estimate was a good price and in hindsight we wish we had gone with him for that since we did not have a quality job from Rick's fence and deck at a higher cost.. The shed estimate had been more than twice comparable bids, so we chose to go with someone else for the deck who we thought could get the job finished more quickly.  Recently we had another project in mind of taking out a wall, and our adult daughter  contacted Swanson through Angie's list to get an idea of how much it would cost.  She didn't know that we had met him before.  He gave her a phone estimate and she was impressed with how friendly, knowledgeable and responsive he seemed.  But, when we got home and called him to set up an appointment, he declined to respond to any of our calls.  I don't know if he was unhappy that we had not chosen him for the first job or what was going on.   I was always trained to get three bids and meet three contractors before making a decision, so in my frame of reference, choosing someone else was my prerogative.  Perhaps it was some other reason, but he never got back to us and it has been more than a month.

"we got our bid from them and they also gave us an estimate. I don't remember the estimate it is out of my head. But their estimate was reasonable. We actually got three  quotes to decide, but after getting the quotes we thought it was not in our budget to do. The three people that  came to give us their bids, they seemed least interested in the project. My wife and myself have been working on the budget and I'm going to call them again for sure."
