"Sal Orlando is a pro. After the last nor’easter my power went out and my sub pump was not able to pump the water out so the basement flooded . Once the electricity came back on the water was pumped away but the basement was wet and I needed a water restoration pro. Called Sal after Home Advisor recommended him and he immediately called me back. He came in the next day and did exactly what he said he would do at the very reasonable price he first quoted me. He did an excellent job and I intend to call him again this April to complete two outdoor carpentry jobs I need done on the house. Sal is a true professional,a rare find in this complicated world. was honest, dependable, and"

"Our experience with Distinctive Painters was ultimately a deep disappointment. Mario started off great: responsive, prompt, his pricing was significantly below other estimates (at first).
However, he and his helper (he only brought in one person in addition to himself for an entire home, a job that was estimated to take two weeks and stretched out to at least triple that) left open paint cans around the house upon leaving each day, left ladders out and dangerously in our way, as well as wet drop cloths all over the floors. We found this failure to clean up after themselves each day, as our other tradesmen unfailingly did, to be extremely unprofessional. I finally had to ask him to please remove the large pile of half empty paint cans and dripping drop cloths that were right in everyone's path and that continued to grow day by day. After that, they took more care with their stuff, but cleanup was a continual issue.
But this is not my main issue with Mario. Mario did not finish the touch-up work on the ceilings he promised to do. We asked him repeatedly and repeatedly to go back over the many white cracks showing through the charcoal grey paint, and he never actually managed to complete it. I am looking a huge, open white crack over my head as I write this. And they are everywhere. Mario gave us many different excuses as to the reason these cracks kept appearing, but the fact is, he provided the paint, and he is a professional house painter, so he should have had remedies for the many reasons he told us the cracks kept appearing. I have spent time in other lofts in this same building, all built at the same time with the same materials, all with similar, dark-colored painted ceilings, and none of them have cracks the way ours does. I have inspected them all very closely, because I really wanted to know if what Mario was telling me was true or not. I have to conclude that it wasn't.
Our contract stipulated two coats of paint everywhere, and I am not at all convinced we got that. I know we didn't on the ceiling, the largest part of the job. He told us many reasons why he couldn't provide two full coats on the ceiling, but none of them made sense. And at our request he had to go back over gaping cracks after the first coat so many times, I really think he would have saved himself a lot of time and trouble by just doing it the right way the first time.
This was a long job, but not a difficult one. Mario needed to make things right with us, and he didn't. I asked him to add a few very small items not included in the original price (I'd already asked for, and paid for, some larger change orders--I wasn't happy with the prices he charged for those, but I let it go and paid the additional charges without complaint, since he was already on the job and it was just the easy thing to do--something I'm sure he well knew) at the very end of the job (painting the end 2x4 panels of two small knee walls and repainting a couple of small beams in a downstairs bathroom, which he should have asked me about before making the decision himself to paint them the wall color and not the ceiling color) very, very minor things, nothing requiring any particular skill or time) and his price for these small add-ons was almost a third the cost of the entire job! I was truly perplexed and sorry he thought this was okay to do--I sent him an email telling him I was disappointed in his inflated price and said we'd take care of finishing the job up another way.
He apparently took this to mean he doesn't have to come back to finish the touch up work (which is needed all over the house and was included in his original price). I am really sorry he chose this way to end up his work with us. I liked Mario as a person, and believed he would in the end come through and do the right thing, but alas, I was mistaken.

"Excellent job. I have been in my house for 14 yrs and have not had a real duct cleaning job since I've been here. I suffer from severe allergies, with a high allergic reaction to mold. Well needless to say, I've been living with the mold in my vents for a very long time. Once my ducts were cleaned and treated, I immediately noticed the air quality difference in my home. My allergies have subsided significantly. I am very pleased with the service AND most of all the price."

"I am very pleased with Mr. L'Heroux's services.  I called him after some water damage appeared in the roof, being under pressure due to another storm coming. He came over that day, examined the roof, and took corrective action.
When I had an another water issue later on after a nasty snow/ice/rain storm, he came over free of charge to examine the roof again. I believe this may have been due to an ice dam and faulty roof contruction, which has nothing to do with this contractor. I have not seen any leaks since.

"When I reported the sewage leak to my insurance company, I asked for some companies they recommended. I told them I would check with Angie's List and if one of them received excellent reviews I would use one of those companies. Adams Emergency One fit that criteria. I called and Jerry Theroux, the owner, came over and looked at the mess that was the basement. There was a lot of stuff belonging to four generations of family members, most of whom are no longer alive. I had a lot of emotional attachment to the vast majority of what it would be necessary to remove and dump. Jerry was amazing. He understood how difficult the whole situation was for me and spoke slowly and softly, making sure I was with him as he explained what needed to be done. It helped me to begin the process of detaching from the objects and look instead at the blessing of having the decision to get rid of those objects made for me. I felt comforted and protected. What was going too need to be done was still overwhelming for me, but I resolved to make things as easy for the workers as possible. To me that meant that i would allow almost everything to be tossed with as little interference from me as possible. Jerry told me I should be there as they tossed stuff into the skiff to approve everything and take pictures for the insurance.
The three workers arrived Monday morning and were the same workers who were here for the rest of the week. They always arrived on time and worked almost continuously until lunch, and then again for a couple of hours after lunch. Louis was in charge and did most of the work in the basement. Austin trucked things up from the basement, and Al handled packing the skiff. This all happened on extremely hot and humid days which made the work that much worse. There were even a couple of brief downpours. The three men were unfailingly respectful, kind, and solicitous at all times. They were the definition of professional. They worried about how I was doing emotionally as well as physically from being in the constant sun and heat. They felt more like family than strangers, and considering the horrors that they were dealing with, absolutely wonderful. If something came up that seemed to have some value they always asked if I wanted to photograph the item. They showed me any boxes that came up and put them to the side if I wanted to go through them. Almost four skiffs were taken to the dump.
Once the items were removed, the entire wall where the sewer and drainpipes were located was removed as well as the bottom half of several other walls. There was a very intricate built in bar that was here when my family bought the house in 1956, as well as a wooden platform in the laundry area that also had to be disassembled and removed. They power-washed and sanitized everything and left dehumidifiers running for several days and nights. Some of the work had to be redone after the plumbers removed and replaced the sewer and drain pipes. Everything was cleaned up inside and outside when they were finished.
Jerry stopped by a couple of times to check on things and take pictures of the progress for the insurance company. He always made sure to check and see if I was satisfied and how i was doing personally. He guaranteed me that i would be thrilled when they were done. I was.
The whole situation was extremely stressful, but working with Adams Emergency One made it as easy as it could be. I am grateful to the insurance for recommending them and especially to Jerry, Louis, Al, and Austin who went out of their way to make their part of the process as painless as possible. I hope I never have need of their services again, but I would absolutely call them again if I did.
