Their SEER 16 is only slightly more than their 14 SEER, and NBU (New Braunfels Utility) offers a rebate on the SEER 16 through July 31, 2018 (often these renew, just check the website, click Rebates). Legacy made sure I had all the necessary paperwork to file for the rebate, with their part filled in, and handed it to me on the day of my install. Efficiency at its best! If you like tech, the standard touchscreen programable thermostat will connect to your cell phone after installing a free app, enabling remote access to adjust your home temperature while you are away. The device also gives you all kinds of information, even a weather forecast! And the thermostat is intuitive and easy to use."

Patti, was friendly, quick to respond to requests, overall great customer rep for the company...made selecting Pro Star as our provider very easy.  The tech, Robert was friendly, courteous, helpful, conscience and explained in detail what he was going to do before he did it when replacing the RO system.  They didn't as many companies will do try to upsell anything and as any good tech he also viewed our water softener was a very old one (over 17 years old, not even in market any longer) and simply offered a brochure of their systems, highlighting some of the advantages to include their service whenever we might need it.  There was no arm twisting or hard sells involved from either Patti or Robert. 

After review and further discussions, we decided to go with their system, Puronics and added the water softener to the contract.  As I always do, I asked for better pricing and since we were buying both a water softener and RO system...they were more than accommodating, giving us a better deal than I even expected.  A+ in my book.

"Everything went smoothly up until I had a ceiling leak and we found that the condensation line to the other unit was broken during the installation. It was not carelessness but a poor design by the builder of the home. Anyway, they agreed to fix it and the damage it caused, without any need for me to make a lot of noise. My only complaint was that the repair was long and drawn out taking 4 or 5 visits to complete and the repairman was good but never came on schedule."

Replaced that OLD sump pump cleaned out the trash in the well of the sump pump also. Installed the new one for a good price, he quoted me first before he started the job. I will call him again. "Hi everyone I've been meaning to post about my experience of replacing my 3 HVAC systems over the summer. I have a really old home that had 3 HVAC systems that were between 18-25 years old each. Each slowly failed over the summer one by one requiring me to replace them all. They all ran on the old R22 refridgerant which is unbelievably expensive to refill locally unless you buy it online. We had gotten some bids last year 2017 and were quoted 25k-30k by different companies. We needed to replace a 2 ton, 2.5 ton, and 3.5 tons HVAC system. This past summer I took 4 bids on a Friday. I requested bids for the lowest cost system at 14 SEER. ARS Rescue Scooter gave me a bid $19990 for 14 SEER Carrier Sears gave me a bid of $21113 for 14 SEER Kenmore Abacaus gave me a bid of $28000 for 14 SEER Church gave me a bid of $30412 for 14 SEER Trane I'm probably similar to everyone else as this is not my area of expertise and I rely on other people to give me a fair bid, relying that they're being truthful and fair. That first day all of these people continued to hover in my home hoping to be the last one to give their sales pitch. They all tried the pressure tactic that if I didn't sign that day they wouldn't be able to guarantee that they could install it this week. It felt very similar to buying a used car and incredibly annoying. They all also said if I found a better price they would match it. I took the weekend to think it over and did some research. Turns out the HVAC units themselves only run $2000-$4000 each depending on what brand at 14 SEER. Therefore it should have only run about $6000 to $12000 for the 3 units I needed. The rest of the cost was for labor. People were charging me $8000-$18000 for labor!!! Looking into what went into labor, it consists of adding duct work, installing air handlers, installing the HVAC systems. I only needed the air handlers installed in their preexisting space and needed no additional duct work added to the current systems so I couldn't figure out how they justified $8-18k for labor. The following Monday, I took additional bids, but this time I let each HVAC company know to just give me the bid and to leave my home as soon as possible. I also let them all know that I already had multiple bids from Friday and had more coming on that day and to give me their best price. Village Plumbing gave me a bid of $23403 for 14 SEER Lennox H-Town gave me a bid of $14700 for 14 SEER Rheem Courtesy Air gave me a bid of $14380 for 14 SEER Ameristar Texas Air Repair gave me a bid of $11800 for 14 SEER Ameristar or Goodman Eventually I decided on Henry from Texas Air Repair even though other companies said they would match or better the offer. I personally think that people who give their best offer up front should be rewarded, not people who high ball you then drop their price $50 below the best bid you find after the fact. I upgraded the brand that I purchased and ended up purchasing a 2 Ton, 2.5 Ton, and 3.5 Ton 14 SEER Trane units from Texas Air Repair for $13500. I have been happy with the quality and the professionalism displayed by Texas Air Repair so and would highly recommend in the future. I definitely learned a lot about HVACs and hope this experience helps someone else out there from getting gouged."

"The technician arrived on time and very professional. We had an issue with a leak on one of our units. Instead of pressuring us to go through his company, he explained what was going on and provided a quote. He was supportive when we wanted to wait on scheduling anything so that we could contact the original installing AC company to find out about the warranty."

"Prior "tune up" service provider apparently messed up the hvac and then tried to sell me a replacement scenario over $3000 or a new unit for over $4000.  Next Service guy, as above noted, explained all the problems and the disconnected wiring left by the prior folks, and said it could be fixed for around $200, but it cost $410 as indicated above.  I do not think he arbitrarily increased his bill--just found more stuff that needed fixing than originally contemplated, and had to make a second trip out with one of the parts needed.
