However based on various options quoted and online prices for the same heater model, it seems that the premium for same-day service and 6 yr warranty on the labor and miscellaneous parts was over $500! If I were to do it over again, I think I could have survived a week without hot water and would have ordered my own heater. As it was, the labor (and overhead?) would calculate out to ca. $300/hr."

The plumber only brought 5 fittings, but he gave me the option to run to Home Depot to get more... Sharkbite valves were installed. If I knew they were going to be used, I would have done the work myself.
