"My daughter's kitchen sink was backing up. I could not remove with my 8 ft. Snake and we called Ben Franklin and asked for the hydro-jet service to remove the blockage. The technician could not remove the blockage due to a street elbow connection with clean out that prevented the hydro jet from traversing the drain pipe. Had to pay full price ($836) without solving the issue but was offered a $400 discount to have a complete replacement of the branch drain ($3100). I ended up getting a 15 ft. Snake and threaded it through the coupling where the copper branch met the PVC main drain and removed the blockage in less than an hour. Would not recommend this firm to anyone unsuspecting of the upsell tactics."

"It took longer than he thought and was a difficult job to do. The house is old and can be difficult to have work done. But Mike was fantastic. He knew just what to do. Great to start the new year with my new system in the tub. As seniors we will definitely call him again for any plumbing problems. We hope he will be available when we do. Thank you Mike you are a hero to us."

"It went very well. I sent pictures at their request and Mike was able to tell me that they couldn’t retro fit a new part for such an old laundry tub. He suggested a couple of options and we came up with a good solution. When Greg came to switch out the tub, he noticed some serious problems with our waste pipe. We agreed that the pipe should be replaced. We were grateful that he spotted the problems before they became an emergency."

"It was Saturday afternoon. When I saw water spreading on my basement floor, I called Nutmeg. Within 15 minutes, I got a call back from a tech. He said he could be here within 20 minutes, and he DID. He cleared the drain from the evaporation pan. All is well, and I was satisfied with the weekend charge. Super service. Have used Nutmeg in the past for my HVAC work, and will always use them in the future."

FAQs for gas piping projects in East Hampton, CT

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
