"Beware: company recently sold beginning of 2024 to new owners. Not same reputable company it used to be! This has been an absolute nightmare experience. This company has no idea what they are doing and poor customer service / management. We are building a 4 season room and ordered 19 windows totaling about $19,000. Contract signed December 8, 2023. Windows measured January 8, 2024 and told about 7-9 weeks until job completion. Windows had to be remeasured February 28th as no one noticed the measurements were not correct / order sitting on a desk. On installation day, 2 windows were incorrect. Was told replacement windows was supposed to be rushed ordered 2 weeks and promised “top priority” by manager Alen D to get them installed (April 9th) – only to have it delayed another 6 weeks (May 21+22) installed. Windows took 19 weeks from the day they were supposed to have been “ordered”. Communication with office staff and “managers” extremely poor and we were ghosted multiple times."

We do have a $175 minimum house call fee that includes the first hour of work. After that it is $75 per hour fee for smaller projects. Larger projects are based on a lower hourly rate which is included in the over all project estimate. The cost is generally determined by the job but some areas such as exterior carpentry may be billed hourly due to the unpredictable nature of the work. We may find more work up close or underneath visibly damaged areas. All employees speak English well. We are also able to communicate in Spanish, Cechua or Italian (just in case). We are covered by general liability insurance, disability insurance, workers comp, and heath insurance. I treat my employees and my customers, in the same manner I wish to be treated myself. We have been Angies list supper service award winners for the past 11 years. We care about our workmanship and our customers and I think that is reflected in our awards. "This dude shows up on time, 5/5 on that. Leaves 10 minutes later without saying a word. I message him 3 hours later asking if we were still doing the job. 2 hours after that he messaged back saying he had his helpers cancel and we need to reschedule. I ask when he's thinking we can get it done. 3 days later I haven't heard back. I open a new project on Angi, and re-select this same guy by mistake. He replies promptly, gets all the details, and then once he gets my email no further contact. It feels like there's something personal here, or maybe he quoted too low for the project, but in any case I literally cannot imagine a less professional way of handling this whole situation. My guess is that he showed up to the job to scope it out, then went to find a couple day laborers to actually do the work. Maybe he couldn't find any, maybe he realized that this job was too big. In either case, just say so. Jesus."

Pocket doors are more expensive than standard pre-hung doors. While a standard interior door installation costs around $150 to $200, installing a pocket door can run from $1,000 to $3,500, especially on existing walls. The higher price is due to extra work like demolition and modifications. While more costly, installing pocket doors offers benefits like saving space and modern aesthetics that are worth the added expense.
To frame or retrofit a pocket door, you'd need to modify an existing wall to fit the door and its hardware. After creating space, a new frame and track are installed so the door functions properly.
You can use some standard doors as pocket doors, but they must fit the required dimensions. The door has to slide smoothly into the wall cavity, so it must be the right size and thickness. Also, any existing hardware holes need to be adjusted or covered up to work correctly, increasing labor costs.
For a pocket door, you need enough wall space for the door to slide into. A standard 32-inch-wide door requires about 66 inches of wall space in total—including the doorway and the pocket. The wall you install it in should be at least four inches deep to fit the door's thickness.
Installing a pocket door usually takes about six to 12 hours. If your project requires extra work like wall modifications or electrical adjustments, it might take a couple of days. The exact time depends on your home's layout, the type of door you’re installing, and the complexity of the project.
Removing a pocket door involves more than just taking down the door. You'll likely need to open up the wall to access the door mechanism, adjust any wiring or plumbing inside, and then rebuild the wall afterward. Costs can range from $1,000 to $3,200, depending on how much work is needed.
