"Hamilton Plumbing did an amazing job for the work they conducted. I worked with Vernon who was very professional, responsive and polite in the coordination and completion of this effort. He kept me updated with the process and scheduling of the work. On the day the work was performed, he made sure to lay down drop clothes and kept the whole effort, which was pretty extensive, clean and organized. The water line and hot water heater were replaced and completed in under 4 hours. Upon completion, Vernon's team took the time to properly fill the hole in the yard that needed to be dug up, and retained the original layer of grass that was removed, and placed it back on top. I plan on hiring Hamilton in the future to complete HVAC work on my house. Definitely consider going to Hamilton for any plumbing or HVAC needs, these guys were great!"

"I initially called Shaffer Plumbing and a Plumber came out to assess the situation. We were told that our cold water line was leaking and our old water heater needed to be replaced. The Plumber 1st repaired the leak and replaced valve. As we supplied the water heater the Plumber returned a few days later, installed the new water heater, cleaned up beautifully and removed the old water at no additional charge!!"

"I needed a shut off valve installed for my outside spigot. It froze and burst last winter, and I had been procrastinating on calling a plumber. Aqua was able to come out within 2 days. Arrived on time, two very pleasant guys. Put in a shutoff valve. When they left, however, I discovered a problem in that the solution they came up with meant that another water supply was cut off. I didn't blame them; I've got a really old rowhouse with very "unique" plumbing. I called them, and they came right back. Discovered the problem, made another appointment to come back. Again, arrived on time. The guys showed me every step, showed me how to operate valves, explained everything. They ended up replacing the spigot entirely, and did not charge me for the first visit."

My 1952 house was not equipped with a vent, nor proper traps for either the washing machine or sink. There were sewer gases backing up on occasion, into the sink area, which is of course unpleasant.

Robert installed the traps, then came back to add the vent to the outside of the house. He did not have to go through the attic and roof. The end result looks like it was built with the house, and blends in well with the exterior.

He responds to my need for help either instantly or within 24 hours, is professional and knows his business. Anyone he hires is up to his standards, and those are very high. Having a reliable and qualified plumber is key to survival, and for that need, I go to Robert!!

"Within an hour of purchasing the advertised special, Henry from B A R called us to set up an appointment for service. He seemed knowledgeable and showed up promptly to our appointed time. After working on the unit for about an hour he determined that the unit had died and there was no hope reviving it - it was 14 years old after all. WIthin a few days Henry was back and installed our new unit. Around the time he installed our unit, our second unit died. We had him replace it as well. The work was done in a timely manner and we have been completely satisfied. We would definitely hire B A R Appliances again for our HVAC needs."

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"The audit went well.  The follow-on work (water heater replacement, heat pump replacement, and caulking).
They did a pretty good job.  They did sub out the water heater and heat pump parts.  The new water heater had a heat pump unit on it too.  The water heater had an alarm that went out and was eventually replaced.
The subs did test my patience when they started late and ended even later than they said they would.  I eventually told them they had to get out at a certain time.
I took a year to write this because I wanted to back it up with cost savings info.  Unfortunately, the jury is still out on whether or not the system is paying for itself.
