"Our 30 year old porcelain tub and tile surround were showing their age, with small leaks in the grout and caulking that kept recurring and requiring attention.  It is a bathroom used by teens so we wanted something easy to clean and maintain.  From the first phone call, Porcelite was an easy company to deal with.   The owner, Mr Wachter, came out and provided an estimate for installing a liner over the tub and wall surround.  He came back a second time to address concerns I had about the drywall behind the tile surround.  He provided an estimate, including removing some tile and replacing some drywall behind it just to be on the safe side.  We scheduled the work.  The Porcelite guy showed up as scheduled, installed the liner in about 7 hours, and we could use it the next day.  It looks great, very bright white, and is much easier to maintain than the old tile was.  It was a straightforward job from start to finish.

"They contacted us promptly, and scheduled an initial date which was cancelled because of snow, but they came the next week.  It was a big job, required them to come back for a second day.  They had to replace some cracked tiles, and also new faucets, etc.  Bathrooms look great!

"Generally, the project went well. I found this contractor at a home show held in the Baltimore area.  The salesperson who manned the booth was very knowledgeable and friendly.  The company also offered a special price for people who contacted them after attending the home show.  The price I was quoted was far better than other estimates I received.  I received welcome help when I went to their showroom to select my granite slab.  Being a novice, I appreciate that they strongly recommended looking at full slabs. They were very clear that a tile sample could not adequately convey what the countertop would look like.  It was easy to set up an appointment for measurement and to establish the install date.  On the install day, the crew arrived on time and got right to work and finished in a timely manner.
Overall, the installation was done well, but I don't think the granite was cut correctly in the first place.  I was distressed at the large gaps that appeared in places between the backsplash and my kitchen wall.  The gaps were sometimes large enough so that I could insert insert my fingers.  A knife dropped into the gap could easily be lost.  When I asked the foreman about the gap, he told me the gap occurred because the wall was not plumb in those places.  I recognize that my walls may not have been plumb, but walls are rarely perfectly plumb.  I think the initial measuring and cutting should have accounted for that.  I did not have this issue with the old laminate countertops that were installed before the granite.  If, for some reason, the measurement could not account for that, I should have been told at the time the measurement was made that there could be unusually large gaps between the backsplash and the wall.
To the credit of AGS, when I expressed my dismay about the gap after the installation, they offered to come back out and fill in the gap with my choice of clear or white silicone, at no extra charge.  They did that.  They were very efficient, but could have done a better job about wiping away excess seepage so that the silicone would dry in a straight line over the top of the backsplash.  They also clearly stated that the wall behind the backsplash needed to be painted before the silicone was applied, since repainting would be difficult or impossible once the silicone was applied.  For that, I was grateful.   AGS also provided a cutting board that was made out of my granite slab.  I love it and use it constantly.  The installation of the sink and faucet went well and look terrific.
Bottom line:  I think AGS is a good contractor and I would consider hiring them again.  I think their prices are fair and they conduct themselves professionally. The piece of granite that was installed is beautiful and I love that they managed to cut it so that there are no seams.  Having no seams enhances the beauty of granite significantly.  But I am disappointed that the juncture between the backsplash and my wall just doesn't look as good as what I've seen in other homes.  In some places, it even looks a little messy.  The entire installation should have been terrific.  That is what I felt I was paying for.  Instead, while the granite slab itself and the sink and faucet are beautiful, the overall look is only okay because of juncture between the backsplash and the wall.

"It went very well. When removing the old floor tiles, they found considerable damage to the sub floor. Mike showed us ans explained how he would replace it. It required extra labor. Also, when the work was completed, Mike tested the faucet in the new sink and discovered a leak. This was at the end of a 10-hour day. I appreciated the fat that he stayed and made sure the work and Ray did was to our satisfaction. They also custom-fit the vanity for us, which required adding pieces to the sides and the bottom. They are great to work with!"

"Juan and his dad are very friendly very hard workers. On the floor refinishing. They refinished 20+ year old floors. They replaced water damaged wood. Very good job. There are sanding marks in some areas, but overall very good. They just need to slow down a little. On tile install: Looks good, but tile is not professionally level. It's nicely done, but few tiles are not well lined up, and not level. We had a very large floor area to install but I don't recall them using a level. It certainly looks good. They still need to come back and finish a few things (thresholds). I've called Juan once, but need to call him again to remind him.... I would recommend them. They are good on price, they need to slow down a bit, and finish up."

"Drain Surgeon performed the work for me on 2/26/15, 2/12/16, and 11/9/16. I originally had the shower fixed a year before by another company. I decided to find another plumber because I was dissatisfied that the problem returned within a year. After reading about Drain Surgeon, I hired the company to repair the shower leak. The repair took a while because it's an old shower and Doug, the plumber, tried to find a replacement part to save me money. Unfortunately, he couldn't find the part so I had replace the faucet. I discovered that I had a pin hole leak in the main water pipe for the house. Doug quickly responded when I contacted Drain Surgeon. That was repaired without any problems. Finally, I had a faulty hose bib and shut off valve outside. I've had no issues with any work performed by Drain Surgeon. The only thing that I would do differently is hire someone separately to repair the drywall due to the repairs. I found that you are better off having a handyman do any repair work. I gave a B for responsiveness because I had to call twice to reach someone to schedule the work for the outside faucet. The first time I left a message with the answering service. Apparently, the service did not rely the messages to the company per the lady who I spoke to on the second call. Otherwise, I've never had a problem during normal business hours. Sometimes, they do get held up at other jobs. They will call you if that happens. Be mindful of that when you schedule. I found that the earlier appointments were better. I have hired them several times because I feel that the plumber is knowledgeable and honest about the work. I feel that the cost is reasonable. I plan to hire them again to repair additional problems in the house."

"I received A+ service from Granite Works. I met Bruno Valente, one of the co-owners, on my first visit. He was very friendly and helpful, not pushy like some sales people. The slab I liked the best was marked sold.  In a follow up discussion with Bruno, my brother found out that the sister to that slab was available. Bruno gave it a rating of 11 on a scale of 1 to 10, and he was right.  Bruno held the slab for a few days until I could get there. Purchased it that day, and he held it for 5 months at no charge. Many companies my brother called on my behalf would not hold a slab longer than 30 days.
When my brother was visiting from out of town, they were kind enough to bring it out of storage so that he could see it.  That day, we met Art Rivera who spent considerable time with me us and provided invaluable advice about a new counter I was adding.  He also provided other design suggestions on the backsplash and paint color, which I followed with great results. That was an extra bonus I didn't expect. So, if Art gives you advice, you should definitely take it.
The templater, Glauber (hope this is the correct spelling), was extremely detail oriented and communicated well with my carpenter and his assistant. He made a suggestion for the end cap of the new counter and the handrail behind it that made it a true work of
art.  Gus Valente (co-owner), with assistance from Eduardo (stone cutter), did a great job of deciding what parts of the stone would go where in my kitchen and fireplace.  They have an amazing eye. I was so impressed by their finding parts of the slab in totally different areas that would best connect at the seams. The installers were terrific and that process went very smoothly. I have 2 seams that are barely noticeable.  Their work in the kitchen and my fireplace surround was impeccable.
Granite Works exceeded my expectations, and I'm very picky.  My counters are a work of art.
