"Steve and his brother brought our mid-century deck chairs back to life. They did extensive work refinishing and repairing both chairs. Their service including picking up and dropping off the chairs at our front door. Highly recommend!"

Customers say: Quick response

"I engaged the work of Chadwick Restoration for the repairs and restoration on my antique furniture. I recommend them to anyone looking for beautiful, expert restoration work. Their work is magnificent. I can’t stop looking at my antique dresser and mirror, grandmother clock, coffee table, antique sewing table, deacons bench, and they’re still working on more of my antiques. My grandparents would be proud of the work Brett and Miranda have done. My antique sewing table was a disaster. It was literally falling apart. Now it looks like it belongs in a museum. I have more antiques in storage and little by little, I’m sending them for restoration with Brett and Miranda. I might add that they’re not only very skilled in their craft, but the nicest people you could ever meet. Attached are pictures of the antique sewing cabinet, before and after."

"When Frank delivered my cabinet doors and drawers all I could say was "WOW". They came out amazing. My thirty year old cabinets look brand new! I keep getting raves from family and friends who have stopped by. Frank was easy to work with. Arrived on time for our first appointment, went over everything with me and answered my questions. He answered the phone whenever I called him, and responded to emails promptly. I never felt ignored or forgotten. I would definitely not hesitate to use The Refinishing Company again."

"Recently I had 3 solid mahogany furniture pieces repaired and restored by Christophe Anigacz of Double Queue Furniture Restoration. The first piece was a 110 year old solid mahogany console with a heavy white marble tabletop. It was made up of 12 intricately carved mahogany pieces all held together by glued wood dowels. Most of the dowels had loosened with age and the console was ready to collapse under the weight of its marble top. The other two pieces were 40 year old matching Queen Anne side chairs needing to be completely disassembled and glued back together. All 3 mahogany furniture pieces now look like new and ready to last many more years. The work Christopher did on the mahogany console was especially appreciated as my grandparent received it as a wedding gift in 1910."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Harriman, NY

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
