"Seatown did mostly a good job I suppose installing a new gas burning high efficiency furnace. When the salesperson was providing their initial consultation, they pointed out that our existing thermostat would have to be replaced and the 3-wire thermostat wire would need to be upgraded to 8-wire for the high efficiency furnace. They were going to charge me some exorbitant fee to pull the new wire through 5 feet of wall. When I questioned it, they knocked it down to $500. I told them I'd buy new wire and pull it through myself before they showed up. Needless to say I was pleased to find out that the technician only used 3 of the wires anyway so that attempted overcharge would have been for nothing? Also the technician very cleverly did NOT place the new thermostat on the wall such that it covered up the old hole in the wall so I had to move it after they left. I can't say I was too happy with the furnace exhaust pipe. First, they placed the exhaust pipe above our gas meter but the inspector didn't flag it so I guess there's no issue. Also they used non-paintable caulk to seal the exhaust pipe so that painting it to blend in with the siding was a bit of a problem. They also didn't provide any sort of screen for the exhaust pipe to keep animals from crawling in it. When I questioned that they said that the carbon monoxide would kill them. So their solution is to have a dead animal in our furnace exhaust? Not to mention that doesn't really work in the summer when the furnace isn't running. Other than those rookie mistakes I noticed, I'm sure everything else was done properly?"

"Mark and his guys helped us install a new AC last summer. They arrived on time and did a great job! So when I was looking for someone to do the maintenance of our furnace, I called them. Todd went above and beyond my expectations. He finished the job and even helped fix my hinge. Both Mark and Todd strike me as very genuine people. And I would definitely hire them again!"

"Worked with Greenwood Heating and Air on a furnace replacement and only have excellent things to say about the company and team. Customer service, pricing, timeliness, thoroughness, and friendliness were top notch. Contacted them initially for an inspection of our 28-year old furnace. The technician Frej was prompt, thorough, and courteous, explaining in detail the issues we might face with this still working but old units. Based on the findings we reached out for a quote on a system replacement. Lori took diligent care in listening to our concerns and hopes for a new system, recommending systems that might work for our household. She was always available for follow-up questions, providing answers that really helped us decide on getting a new system (Trane XC80 furnace with air scrubber) via Greenwood H+A. Prices were fair, on par with expectations and quotes from other businesses. On the day of the install, the team at Greenwood H+A, including Jake, Jordan, and Jason were very flexible, coordinating with the roofing company we had hired to take down our chimney and replace with a vent, to get the project moving on time. They were all very communicative, which we appreciated, and gave us regular updates on the progress. They finished what seemed like a big job within the day, despite the install occurring in our cramped crawl space. Our house is now toasty warm again with a great new furnace and all the bells and whistles. Would definitely recommend them for similar job, including for custom requirements as was our case with the roof. Thanks!"

"I purchased a new Navien NPE-240A2 Tankless Water Heater and had it installed. I'm loving the new water heater. It replaces an old Noritz tankless that died just before this installation. The on-site estimate was what sold me. Ken went through all the details and answered a lot of questions from me. Zachary came out with Austin and performed the installation just like I discussed with Ken. Zachary kept me in the loop throughout the installation to ensure I was in agreement with how it was going. Zachary always had my interest at heart and ensured no corners were cut. The installation is much cleaner, and more correct than the previous tankless company did. Zachary even listened to my concern about the astectics of the exterior exhaust and quickly found an easier and cleaner looking way to address my concern. He also removed an old recirculation pump and replaced a new main house shutoff valve. The entire area was treated respectfully and left cleaner than they found it."

"I had a 4-Zone Heat Pump installed and couldn't be happier with the result. Richard Scott was quick to do an estimate and was very professional, no pressure. Oleg and his team did a very good job with the installation that took a day. The electrician also did a good job, it was done in half a day. The price was fair and competitive compared with the other cotractors who came by. As Richard said, "Enjoy your new HVAC." We are definitely enjoying the benefits. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Northwest Expert Heating & Cooling !!!"

"CHEAP.  FAST.  HIGH QUALITY.  After getting our first full-cycle (2-month) power bill for almost $800 (!) we got our landlord to agree to insulate the place, which up to this point had barely any insulation above and none below.   We intended to get 3 bids and go with the cheapest (as instructed by the landlord).  Daniel, the owner of SOS, was the first and quoted a price that seemed extremely reasonable.  This was confirmed when the second guy showed up…when I told him the bid he’d have to beat he didn’t even bother writing it up.  The third guy never showed, so SOS it was.  Daniel and his associate showed up early, busted their butts all day, and left no mess.  In the process of insulating and laying a vapor barrier in the crawlspace, he repaired the ductwork in several places for no additional charge (electric forced air, as you probably guessed).  He didn’t skimp on the amount or quality of materials and billed exactly what he quoted.  He’s apparently willing to travel as well (we’re in SE Seattle).  If you need insulation, I recommend Daniel at without reservation."

"StarDuct Pros were referred to me by my coworker. I was in desperate need to have my crawl space cleaned after unwanted guest (mice) decided to take shelter under my home and made it smell terrible. Simon, came and did a thorough clean up of the crawl space, and replaced the vapor barrier ( the plastic cover) which was left dirty by my unwanted guest. Simon made the whole process clear, and answered all my questions in a patient manner. Great customer service, I highly recommend!"

"The installation of our new heat pump was to take two days, and I assumed would be done during normal business hours (8:00AM - 5:00PM). I expected a smooth process and a properly working system at the end of the 2nd day. The experience was not even close to my expectations. Day 1: Old air handler, heat exchanger, compressor pad and compressor were removed; new air handler, heat exchanger, and compressor pad were installed. As expected, the new compressor was placed on the pad, but not connected to inside unit. I observed one of the four-man crew scraping gravel from my neighbor's driveway to put under the compressor pad. When I told him that my neighbor probably would not like that, he said, "It will be OK. I'll smooth out the places I took it from." He couldn't have given a more wrong answer! Late in the afternoon, the electrician (an Overlake subcontractor) arrived to hookup power to the new system, and all four from the installation crew left. (I think at least one of the crew should have stayed until the electrician was finished to verify that the system was working. And maybe to explain to me how to operate the new thermostat!) About 90 minutes later, the electrician was finished, but the system would not turn on. It was not his job to troubleshoot system problems, but with the guidance of someone over the phone, he managed to find two wires that had not been connected by the Overlake crew. He connected the wires, but that made no difference. I was supposed to have backup electric heat working at the end of Day 1. This was important because it was December and the temps were down to 32 degrees at night. After 2 hours of trying to get the system to produce heat, the electrician left at 7:00PM, and an Overlake tech arrived at 8:30PM. At 10:00PM, the tech determined that a circuit board in the air handler was defective, and a new one would have to be obtained and installed in the morning. I managed to get by with two 1500-watt space heaters by closing off most of the rooms. Day 2: Before the techs arrived, I noticed that the compressor pad, with compressor installed on it, was significantly out-of-level. The techs arrived at 10:30AM, and I asked them to purchase a bag of gravel to replace what had been taken from my neighbor’s driveway, and they complied with my request. I also asked them to level the compressor pad which they did. The defective circuit board was replaced, and backup electric heat came on. It took two Overlake techs until 7:00PM to connect the inside and outside units of the heat pump, and attempt to charge the system with refrigerant. However, a valve on the compressor unit was leaking so the heat pump could not be operated until a new valve was obtained and installed the following day. Day 3: Two Overlake techs arrived at 1:30PM, and, I assume, they installed a new valve. What appeared to me that was left to be done at that point was to charge the system with refrigerant, connect a small electrical cable between the inside and outside units, insulate the refrigerant lines, and spot-tie the lines and wires into a neat installation. This seemingly small quantity of work took until 10:00PM to complete, at which time it appeared that I had a working system. Day 4: I had programmed the wi-fi capable thermostat using the owner’s manual on Day 2, so I woke up on Day 4 to two emails from the system telling me about urgent notifications that had occurred in the middle of the night. They were Error Code 99’s – High Torque Lockout. A google of this returned a manufacturer’s document that explained this code was likely due to overcharging the system, and resulted in the compressor shutting down for a while and then restarting for a couple of hours when the error situation occurred again. I called Overlake and they said to run the system only on the electric backup until a tech could come out 4 days later. I think Overlake should have sent a tech out that day since, at that point, they were already two days late providing me with a working system. Also, since my old but still working heat pump had been turned off 3 days before, I was going to be using electric backup for 7 straight days (at least), and that more than doubles my heating bill, at this time of year. Days 5 thru 7: Waiting for tech to return and troubleshoot error code. Day 8: Appointment for tech was scheduled for between 11:00AM and 1:00PM. Tech arrived at 4:00PM, but did call to say he would be late. Between 4:00PM and 10:00PM, the tech removed the refrigerant from the system and then recharged the system with refrigerant. He had determined that the initial charging had been below spec (too little refrigerant was used), and he said that the system should work OK now that it was properly charged. After the crew left, I noticed that there was dirt, installation scraps, and some kind of cream-colored lubricant on the carpet next to the air handler, as well as trash in the crawl space and outside around the compressor unit. In general, they could have done a better clean up. Also, they apparently used the top of our clothes dryer as a work bench since there was a drop of dried, blue PVC solvent on the dryer along with many dirty finger prints. The system has now operated for 5 days without any obvious problems. I now have an installed and operating system; however, given that it arrived from Bryant with two faulty components, and the installation included two wires not connected and improperly charging of the system, I have little confidence in my new Bryant heat pump. However, among all the negative aspects of this project, there were a couple positives: Overlake’s price was almost $2000 lower than their competition, they promptly submitted the necessary data to Bryant for the rebate I was due, and they appeared to provide a neat and proper installation."

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Hobart, WA

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
