"I called U.S. Window Repair around 9 a.m. A technician, Sam, came around 11:30 and fixed the windows in less than 10 minutes. No sales pitch, just a quick efficient repair. It can be difficult to find a vendor to do smaller repair jobs. I will definitely contact them for any future window repair or replacement needs."

"I highly recommend contacting Ed Richardson at edward.richardson@andersencorp.com . He spent half a day taking measurements & making sure I knew what my options were. The installation team worked like clockwork together, with attention to every detail they really took pride in their work. This is an old house so replacement windows was not going to be easy. Everyone we dealt with through the process was not only very professional, but also showed concern for us & ensuring this old house will keep us warm for many more Blue Ridge winters. I love our new windows & I really love the new gliding door to the deck."

"We have used Thompson Creek several times over the years. We have had new windows, new siding glass doors and new front door with a storm door @nd a new side door. They are professional and always clean up. The office kept us up to date as to when they would be doing the install. Very happy"

"The initial contact was with Dan at thewindowdog website. ?I sent photos and measurements of the windows on all sides of my home. ?We split it up into Front, and Back/sides. ?I opted to purchase just the back/sides to see how everything went before taking the plunge to do everything. ?Being an engineer I am very difficult to work with and detail out everything, Dan helped with every question I had and bid the jobs two or 3 times each with different options. Once I figured out what I wanted I told Dan I was ready and paid 50% down to order the windows. Approx 3-4 weeks later they I anxiously contacted them and they were just getting the windows at their Houston location. ? An install appointment was made and my grandparents stayed at the home while the crew installed. ?The crew wrapped and covered our furniture and did an excellent job on the install both upstairs and downstairs. ? After satisfied the remaining 50% was charged. We went with the Alside Mezzo foam filled and reinforced window. The new windows make a huge difference on the traffic noises around our home."

"The folks at Tri-State Retractable screens were a pleasure to work with. They were communicative, responsive and very prompt. When our first installation date was rained out, they called with other options the next day. Moreover, when they had a cancellation, they called to see if we could be available early. The screen fits perfectly and works great. I've already recommended them to neighbors and am considering having them return to do another job for me. <br />"

"The staff did a great job. They put in a great deal of work to get my daughter's ipad mini 4 back to working order after a terribly cracked screen from I don't know how many drops. The cost of the work was very reasonable in all cases, even with the phones I've had worked on over the past years."

"I had a broken window and wasn't sure If I can fix it or will have to spend a lot more money to replace it. I saw that advanced glass expert , I thought it might be a good idea to call them first. Nasser was very nice on the phone and set an appointment fairly soon. They came and said that most likely they have the part to fix the window. They followed up very quickly said that they can fix it and set another appointment. Sam came on the 2nd appointment, very nice and courteous, and fixed the window in no time. They sure deserved all the A rate , and earned one more from me. Thank you."

"We are extremely happy that we chose STB for our gutter repair. They were extremely communicative and came out to give me an estimate either the same day I called or the very next day. I initially selected another company since their price was a bit lower, but they never answered their phone and kept giving me the run-around whenever I tried to schedule the work. After three weeks and no date confirmed for the work, we decided to call STB back. They were able to come back the VERY NEXT DAY and did an amazing job. We're SO very happy that we made the switch to STB. It just goes to show you that paying more for quality, communication, and timeliness is much more important than saving a few extra bucks. Thanks for reminding us of this important lesson STB!"

"My PC laptop monitor died on a Thursday afternoon. Friday morning, a little after 9, I called District Technologies, then walked the laptop over to them at 10. Tim took care of me immediately, ordered the new screen over the weekend, and had the laptop back in my hands by 10 Monday morning. If we count only conventional workweek days, that would be 24-hr. turnaround. We needed one day of the weekend for overnighting parts, though?so let?s call it 48 working hrs that I was without the laptop. Hooray! Fair price. Courteous, prompt, and expert help. VERY convenient location for those on Capitol Hill. Who could ask for more? <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Hughesville, MD

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
