"Initially I considered having to pay $8000-ish for a replacement unit. Robert Alfonso saved the day, however. Well trained by LA Tech, and professional from start to finish, Robert diagnosed and resolved my wiring and capacitor issue quickly. The fix was $485 not $8000 to replace the unit. These guys are legit. Great result. Robert "Doctor" Alfonso rocked it."

"Everything went as smoothly as can be imagined. Darrow was easy to work with when planning the job. He worked with my attention to details as I chose the AC and heating units that I wanted and, at my request, put every detail in writing. It was a big job - completely replacement of two systems on two floors including roof mounted AC and basement and attic furnaces. His crew were respectful, professional and always on time. The work proceeded exactly as it was described. Construction messes were cleaned up at the end of every workday. The work was finished on time. As in every big project, there was a "punch list" of details that needed to be attended to. Darrow came out immediately and took care of ALL the details big and small on the list. The new heating system worked perfectly and efficiently this winter. I'm looking forward to seeing the new AC system work this summer. I spoke to a number of companies and got a number of quotes for the work to be done. Darryl wasn't the least expensive - his quote fell in the middle range -- but he was responsive, adaptable and communicative. Very glad I chose his company for the work."

"My least favorite part of owning a home is paying for it. That's probably true for most people, but I find it very difficult to part with a dollar. For that reason, about 10 years ago, when my air conditioning died, I told my family we were going to live without it - I grew up without air conditioning and did just fine. About 2 years ago, the furnace started to give us a little trouble as well, and this year, before the winter started in earnest, it died too. Both systems dated to 1977 (I bought the house in 2005). As soon as the cold weather kicked in this past year, I knew I was going to have to have everything replaced. The extreme cold this year, plus the unreasonably hot summer in 2022...well, it was time to fix things. I got on Angie's list to find some contractors. I stuck with people with 5 stars (or as close as possible) and over 100 reviews, and had about 8 different outfits come by to look at the job and give me bids. It took a while, but when you are looking to have to spend 25-30,000 dollars, you want to make sure it doesn't go to waste. I found that, even with 5 stars, a company might not be too impressive when they come by to look at a job. One company tried to hard sell me with fancy brochures and pressure tactics. Another opened up our discussion by saying that he "refuses to pull permits - it saves us both money," and that he insisted on installing a furnace that did not comply with county emissions standards, because "it'll be nothing but problems if you follow the rules." Gustavo, from GC Heating and Cooling, struck me as a cut above the rest of the guys that showed up. First off, the first thing he wanted to do was see the current system himself, despite being the owner of the company and not a young man. He and I climbed into the attic - the fact that he invited me to check it out was cool - and after he saw everything, we sat down to talk. He was patient and kind - I felt like he was excited about doing the job, excited about how he could improve the situation of our house, and he wanted to communicate that excitement to me. I told him what we wanted to do, and he gave me several options to accomplish the goal - of course, as a professional with a college degree in mechanical engineering, he had an opinion about which was the best option for us, but (and this is a testament to his honesty) crucially, his "best" option was not the most expensive option. After we were done talking, he gave me a very fair price (I base my opinion on the other estimates I got), told me that no matter what happened on the job he would not increase the price, and told me to call him if I liked what he had to say. Let me make this long story a little bit longer - I chose Gustavo to get the job done, and I'm grateful to him and his crew for getting the job done in as excellent and efficient a manner as I could have hoped. His crew is clean and polite, and they work quietly and quickly, always cleaning up after themselves. Any time I pointed out a problem, they fixed it. Any time I had a question, they answered it. To be honest, these guys were so cool, it made me not want to go to work on the Friday they started the job so I could work with them and maybe learn something! They wrapped up a full HVAC job, removing all of the old equipment and installing the new, in a 2400 square foot house, in two and a half days. The whole time, Gustavo was running the show, keeping tabs on his guys, making sure things were running smoothly, and always answering all of my questions. On the final walk though for the job, when everything was done, he was still excited about the work, showing me all the different stuff he and his crew had done. Believe me, I was glad to shake the guy's hand and thank him and his team for a job well done. Gustavo's secret, if you ask me? He likes people, and he likes helping them out. He's got a lot of energy, and he directs it in a very positive way. All of that, and he's an expert in his craft. My recommendation to you, dear reader, is: hire Gustavo for your HVAC needs. I'm sure glad I did!"

"Nick Sinclair handled my project. He was really great. I had no clue that you had to have a permit in order to install a furnace or water heater. An inspector came out and told me that I would need a permit. They had to drive from Orange County to Riverside County in order to get the permits. These guys stopped everything, drove out there and took care of all the permits. They installed everything promptly and it was just the perfect job. Their prices are fantastic."

"Breezeway was very nice. They were prompt and did a good job. However, we negotiated them fixing one piece of ducting. They didn't fix it and said that, if we found that it continued to have problems, they'd come back and repair it. Well, it needed to be repaired when it was clear that it still wasn't working. Breezeway became unresponsive to numerous attempts to get in touch. So, while I thought they did a great job in the beginning, their lack of follow through left a bad taste in my mouth. For that reason, I'm not going to call on them again.

"Very happy, Arrived on time and got right to work. Sealed off work area with plastic curtain to protect the rest of the house from dust. once all asbestos was removed Juan and his crew were ready to go installing the new ducts. Everything went smoothly and once complete Juan showed me the work they had done and tested our system to make sure everything was working as it should. They vacuumed the area and left it as they found it."

"Everyone at Baltica was responsive and eager to please.  Calls and emails were returned punctually in every instance.  Everyone I communicated with was professional and accommodating.
I called initially to discuss moving to a tankless water heater, but a personal review of my property showed that it was not possible.  Kevin Phidayev, with whom I made the arrangements, was eager to accommodate my product needs, financial needs, and scheduling needs.  Kevin was ultra-responsive to every call, email or request.
The installer, Marius, was particularly pleasant.  He showed up on time every time.  He looked professional, was knowledgeable, and he got the job done on time.  He was happy to accommodate my neighbors in the condo who would be without water for a brief time. Marius left my home clean, and he protected my new floors from damage.
To be honest, I did not do any comparative shopping for pricing purposes because I was so impressed with my initial contact with this company.  I got all kinds of upgrades I never knew existed.  Marius installed a pressure relief valve, new water valve, new stainless steel flexible water and gas supply lines, and new double earthquake straps, among other things. I have learned from bitter experience that you get what you pay for.  If this water heater seemed costlier than I expected (my only "B" rating), in the end I believe I got my money's worth.
The level and quality of customer service is unique in my experience.  Truly outstanding.  I have already referred business to Baltica, and would do so again without hesitation."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Huntington Park, CA

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
