Small jobs welcome

"Alex was amazing! His attention to detail was phenomenal. We have hired other wallpaper pros and he was far and above better than anyone else! Extremely happy with the end result and will hire him again when we need more work done! "

"We are so happy with the jobs that C&C did for us. Over the summer, we had all of the popcorn removed from the ceilings in our 2 story house and replaced with knockdown. Then recently, we called them back for repairs on our walls. Both times Carlos and crew were very professional, fast and cleaned up afterward. We couldn't believe we looked at these repairs for years dreading trying to get them done! Highly recommend!"

"There is not a finer person and more professional person than Tom Walker. Tom has painted the interior of our home from main floor to basement. He is responsive to our needs and goes above and beyond our expectations. Our last job, was a whole basement painting before our new carpet was going to be installed. We told him there was no need to lay painters tarp down on the old carpet to be thrown away and he insisted that they would go ahead and use the tarps and paint as though the old carpet was new carpet. Tom's prices are reasonable and he's always finished when he said he would. His apprentice, Joel, is a mirror image of Tom when it comes to paying attention to detail. We will use no other painter than Tom and Walker Painting and Wallcovering, Inc."

"We were very pleased that we selected Matthew Stieg to do this work.  He and his crew were very helpful in our selection of types of paint and colors.  They were very thorough in the work, giving 2 coats of paint throughout and a third coat in one room for complete coverage.  The quality of the paint and the work is A-1.  No spills were to be seen on floors or windows.  The lines where one color meets the other were very well done.  Cracks and blemishes on walls and ceilings were repaired perfectly.  The crews were here for 7 days, and were alwayspunctual, polite and helpful.  If we had a request for other small items to paint or clean, they did so happily.  They moved furniture back in place and cleaned up everything very well.  "

"Adrian was very prompt returning my initial call. He provided me a very reasonable bid to do the work, which could have included hanging new wallpaper had I decided to have that done. He removed wallpaper and prepped the drywall so the new paint had a very nice surface to cover. It took several coats of paint and the bathroom looks beautiful. Adrian was very nice to have working in my house. I have asthma and he was careful to work with my issues, using the no VOC paint I provided. I will definitely have Adrian work for me again."

"Doug, Joe, and their team did a fantastic job. They cleaned up after themselves, were extremely professional, worked efficiently and our house looks incredible! They patched walls from wallpaper damage and painted our kitchen and painted the beams and vaulted ceiling in our living room."

"This project went very well. There was an enormous amount of wallpaper to remove. Once the wainscotting paper was removed there was a patterned glue left from paper on wall. Only solution was to Kilz and skim coat. This was an added cost to the project. They were more than fair on the pricing to do the additional labor-intensive change order. We added 2 additional small areas and they were price very fair."

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Kansas City, MO

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
