"Their tech, Nasser, was on time. He checked the main circuit breaker (CBs not tripped) but then opened a stand-alone box by the A/C that has two cylindrical fuses. One was "blown". He replaced it and the A/C turned on. He then checked the whole system: voltages from the thermostat; coolant level; fan motor operation; temperature difference between an output vent and the intake vent. He gave the A/C a clean bill of health. Nasser is very efficient and quick. Noted that our A/C is old and uses a refrigerant that in two years will not be produced. The replacement will be very expensive. His advice is that if our A/C needs work (i.e. refrigerant) two years from now, if the estimate is over $1000, buy a new A/C"
