"Genove Oil was recommended by a friend of mine and after contacting Genove oil to set up an inspection I was positively surprised how quick I had a technician come and inspect my system despite the current Covdi-19 situation. The Initial phone call was on day 1; inspection as well as quote for an oil tank replacement (old one was leaking) on day 2 which was a Friday. Monday was a holiday and Tuesday morning within a few hours I had the old tank replaced with a brand new one. Technicians were very friendly and made sure to explain what to keep an eye on (as a first time homeowner this was highly appreciated)."

"Sila was incredibly helpful during this time consuming, difficult, complicated, and incredibly frustrating process. In addition to all the usual things a contractor would do as part of installing new gas appliances, Sila's technicians and staff also spent a lot of additional time customizing invoices and estimates to meet the excessive demands of the insurance companies that were paying our claims; doing research; advising us, etc. I also appreciate that technicians in the field are empowered to work with customers to find solutions in-situ. Every house and situation is different. While we did not end up having to pay out of pocket for the cost of replacing our gas appliances and boiler, we have used Sila for a lot of other work that we have paid for, and will continue to use them. While you will not get bargain basement pricing from Sila, they know what they are doing and when you are dealing with gas and plumbing, that's what you want."

"Joe, the AirCo sales representative, was very professional. He actually asked for my feedback on priorities for a new boiler. This was important to me because the boiler sits below our family room, and the noise level of the boiler was as issue. His proposals listed several boiler options, based on heating efficiency, which were competitively priced. The installation was run by Steve, who was able to fit in the installation the next week. Steve, and his crews, were punctual and courteous, and the installation went smoothly. It's only been a week, but I am very pleased with my Bosch boiler, the quality of the work, the price paid, and the timeliness of the installation."

"I've used this company for a few years, beginning with an issue I had where I needed some emergency assistance with an a/c system leaking water into the house. They fixed the issue and it cost far less than I thought it would. I've also used them for a couple heating repairs, annual furnace cleaning and a/c maintenance. I am about to hire them again since the a/c system is dying and it will need replacement since it's more than 20 years old. I would highly recommend Unique Indoor Comfort to anyone in need of a good HVAC/Heating company."

"It was quite a surprise to find black mold growing in our mini-split heat-pump/ac units over the weekend! The situation was quite dire with the system emitting a bad smell and the fact that I have asthma and mold allergies which posed a serious health risk! After being told by the company that originally installed the system, “We don’t provide deep cleaning service for these units, try looking on Angie’s List (boo on Sila!)” I landed here. While other companies did respond to my bid, Atlantic Heating and Air Conditioning was the most responsive and was able to send out a team on one day’s notice (the wait for other service providers was up to three weeks!). The tech team, Josh and Zack, arrived on time and called me 1/2 before arrival as promised. They were very respectful, kept a clean work space and (since we are in the middle of a pandemic) wore masks and were very careful about the usual COVID protocols. The four units in our home are now SPARKLING CLEAN! We are 110% pleased with this job!! We will hire Atlantic as need be in the future for our heating and cooling needs. I have given up on the company that originally installed the units and will post a truthful review about them in an appropriate space online. I would definitely recommend Atlantic to family and friends. (photos attached to this review show one of the units before cleaning - did not think to take after pictures. Suffice it to say, no more mold:)"

"I have been a homeowner for almost 20 years. I have delt with MANY tradesmen in most areas of building , home improvement, and maintenance over the years. This company is by far the best not only in their industry but across all trades..... Start to finish. The office staff is top notch .... Knowledgable, caring, and understanding... They did everything possible to educate me and guide me to make the right decisions to the repair work we needed done. The work was completed on time by professionals in their craft and trade. We are beyond satisfied from start to finish and I would highly recommend them for chimney cleaning, repair, new construction or any project. We plan to them in the near future to install a pellet stove."

FAQs for ducts & vents installation and replacement projects in Boston, MA

Return air vents aren't required in every room, but proper placement is essential for system efficiency. According to industry standards, you'll need one return vent for every 100 to 150 square feet of living space. Ideally, each room would have its own return vent, especially larger rooms exceeding 100 square feet.

Without adequate return airflow, your HVAC system works harder, energy costs increase, and comfort decreases. A professional assessment can determine the optimal number and placement of return vents for your specific home layout.

Signs that your home needs additional return air vents include rooms that feel consistently stuffy, noticeable temperature variations between rooms, doors that slam shut when the HVAC system operates, or unexpectedly high energy bills. Excessive dust accumulation around supply vents can also indicate inadequate return airflow.

If you experience these issues, consulting with an HVAC professional can help determine if adding return vents would improve your system's performance.

Supply vents deliver conditioned air into your living spaces, while return air vents draw room air back to your HVAC system for reconditioning. Supply vents push treated air into rooms, while return vents pull air from rooms back toward your heating and cooling equipment.

Both components are essential for proper air circulation and system balance. Without sufficient return capacity, your HVAC system may experience pressure imbalances that reduce efficiency and comfort.

You should inspect and clean your return air vents at least once annually, according to industry recommendations. However, homes with pets, allergy sufferers, or noticeable dust buildup may benefit from more frequent cleaning.

Regular maintenance helps maintain good indoor air quality and ensures your HVAC system operates efficiently. Professional duct cleaning, which addresses the entire system beyond just the visible vents, is recommended every few years, depending on your home's specific conditions.
