"They did a great job. Mike and Jake spent about 90 minutes removing the old media box and installing the new media box. There was a lot of drilling of holes so that the new media box would line up properly with the cold air return duct and with the furnace. The techs were very friendly and professional. This job definitely needed 2 techs. I have an ordinary gas forced air furnace. Upon completion I tested their work by running the furnace; there was no rattling or shaking sounds."

"Had wade install a Mitsubishi Mini Split with 4 ceiling units on the 2nd floor to assist with heating and cooling issues. The whole process was easy from beginning to end with very clear and quick communication. Also had them repair an existing system at the same time that was quick, hassle free and got me fixed up properly. I want to especially thank Lonnie, Mr Wade and the Installers for their expertise and professionalism along the way. I am extremely satisfied with the Mitsubishi units that were installed and would highly recommend their services!!!"

"They did a nice job checking things out, and did a good job explaining what suggestions they had for further maintenance, or the option of eventually replacing our old furnace with a new one."

"It went very smoothly. I have already recommended them to several other people looking for HVAC services. The techs were extremely friendly and efficient, and I was 100% pleased with the final outcome. If I ever need another furnace or A/C unit, they'll be my first call."

"Probably could not have went better.  Sales rep came out a few days after I called.  I showed him everything and he counted all the supply and return registers along with the square footage to size the new unit.  He quoted me two systems, an Amana 13 seer and an Amana 16 seer.  The Amana was recommended because I have a Goodman furnace and Goodman now owns Amana.  He specifically said they like to sell systems that are on the same level because they tend to work better.  I appreciated the fact that they didn't try to upsell a higher system like a Trane or Lennox just to make more money.  The quote was pretty good but I decided to think about it.  The next day I talked to the rep and told him I decided to go with them.
The day before the install someone came out to measure everything.  Took about 30-45 minutes.  On install day I left the door open in the morning when I left.  I got out of work early and made it home when they were finishing up the installation. Met the 2 installers and talked to them a bit.  Very friendly, professional, and courteous.  We were talking about an air duct that doesn't blow quite as hard as the rest and they looked at it, identified a leak, and sealed it.  There was no paint behind the old thermostat so they installed a cover plate behind the new one to clean it up.  They put rocks down around the condenser and put in the new concrete pad.  Sealed the penetration where the refrigerant lines enter the house.  They also did a fantastic job with the new return drop.  Every question I had they answered no problem.  They even gave me a box of Rosalind candy!
Awesome company, awesome experience, and they will be the only HVAC company I will use from now on.  All four people that were at my house were very friendly and professional.  Not once did I feel pressured about anything.  Their reputation in Beaver County as the best is well deserved and I highly recommend them to anyone.

"This location is awesome, great pricing, not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for, service, knowledge, a company that will stand behind there work, the install crew was awesome, kind, friendly, prompt, and professional. We had this company install a new HVAC system high efficiency, 16 sear unit, and two infinity wifi controls,, with zoning, new filter system, some duct work, with a 10 year parts and labor warranty. I choose J.A. Sauer because I know that they will still be there when you need them. I recommend this company to everyone."

FAQs for ducts & vents installation and replacement projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Return air vents aren't required in every room, but proper placement is essential for system efficiency. According to industry standards, you'll need one return vent for every 100 to 150 square feet of living space. Ideally, each room would have its own return vent, especially larger rooms exceeding 100 square feet.

Without adequate return airflow, your HVAC system works harder, energy costs increase, and comfort decreases. A professional assessment can determine the optimal number and placement of return vents for your specific home layout.

Signs that your home needs additional return air vents include rooms that feel consistently stuffy, noticeable temperature variations between rooms, doors that slam shut when the HVAC system operates, or unexpectedly high energy bills. Excessive dust accumulation around supply vents can also indicate inadequate return airflow.

If you experience these issues, consulting with an HVAC professional can help determine if adding return vents would improve your system's performance.

Supply vents deliver conditioned air into your living spaces, while return air vents draw room air back to your HVAC system for reconditioning. Supply vents push treated air into rooms, while return vents pull air from rooms back toward your heating and cooling equipment.

Both components are essential for proper air circulation and system balance. Without sufficient return capacity, your HVAC system may experience pressure imbalances that reduce efficiency and comfort.

You should inspect and clean your return air vents at least once annually, according to industry recommendations. However, homes with pets, allergy sufferers, or noticeable dust buildup may benefit from more frequent cleaning.

Regular maintenance helps maintain good indoor air quality and ensures your HVAC system operates efficiently. Professional duct cleaning, which addresses the entire system beyond just the visible vents, is recommended every few years, depending on your home's specific conditions.
