"The furnace went out just before the Thanksgiving holiday and I was expecting family over for the weekend. I contacted Cummins and they were able to come out the day after. They said they would be able to repair my furnace but indicated that it was fairly close to end of life. For the price of repair, they recommended a replacement. Since I were to replace the furnace I always wanted to have AC and they gave me a great deal on both. They were able to replace my furnace the same day and returned a couple of weeks later to install the AC unit. However, shortly after my guests left after the holiday they furnace failed. I called them to let them know it wasn't working, so they send someone out to look at it. I explained my disappointment but assured me they would make it right. They ended up replacing the circuit board and the thermostat. Even though I experienced a bit of a hiccup, they were very easy to work with and stood behind their work and product. Everyone at the company that I spoke with was very helpful and friendly. I am happy with the results thus far and would recommend them to anyone that is in the market for a furnace and/or AC unit."

"I believe I was the first Angie's List member to post a review on Jack of All Trades, a few years ago now. Since then he is my go-to guy whenever I need anything done in my home and I have called upon his services several times. The first time Jack came to my home was to look at a door that needed to be installed, a job two other handymen/contractors had declined because it was beyond their skills. Jack's response then was "There's always a way." That sold me.
On this last visit, Jack and Ethan knocked several things off my list all in one day. Some of the tasks were things I might have been able to do myself, but they're so much quicker and better at it. I had built a cover for the crawl space access, but the plywood I used wasn't lasting long. Jack picked up a sheet of marine plywood, which should last longer in our wet weather. They had it constructed in short order and had time to put two coats of paint on it. Jack also took the initiative to add two handles which will make it much easier for me to deal with. I appreciate things like that about Jack. He's always thinking.
The ceiling exhaust fan in the kitchen was probably the original one installed when the house was built in 1954. It didn't do much for removing smoke or steam. I purchased a new replacement fan, with the idea of having Jack swap them out, but I was disappointed I couldn't find anything close to my old retro-looking fan with the metal grate. After climbing to the roof and into the attic to check out how the old fan was installed, Jack determined it might be easier to rework the old fan since it fit into the ductwork so well, and to clean the filter at the roof level. Cleaning the filter alone made a big difference and another contractor might have stopped there. But Jack and Ethan disassembled the old fan, discovering some frayed electrical something-or-other and did not advise reinstalling it as is. So they took apart the new fan I'd purchased, using the motor and fan blades from the new and the mounting rack from the old and they were in business. This also meant they could re-use the retro grate. I was a very happy camper.
Between the two of them they completed all the tasks in six hours, including the deck cleaning, hauling, door fixing and painting, working in tandem and separately as needed. I've always been impressed with Jack, and am impressed with his right-hand man, Ethan, as well. Both are quick workers, very friendly and professional. They take extra care to clean up after they're done working, leaving things cleaner than when they started. They know a lot about how to do a lot of things, and on the few occasions they can't do it themselves, will research to see who can. Such as replacing a wobbly wooden handrail on the front steps. When I mentioned that I would really prefer a wrought iron one, Jack said he knew where he could get some standard ones, but remembered that Ethan knows someone who does custom, more artsy iron work. So we'll check that out. Someone else might have just tried to sell me on the work to replace the existing wooden handrail.
I love dealing with people who actually listen to their clients, don't mind spending a few minutes getting to know them so they can better serve their needs, and think outside of the box. I've always found Jack of All Trades to do honest, thoughtful work for a fair price. I have no hesitation trusting Jack and Ethan, and know they will always come through with flying colors.

"I purchased the Angie's list deal for $379. The actual cost was higher; please see my notes below.
Within 24 hours of purchasing the deal, I received an email from Bob, the owner, who said that he would send me an estimate for the cleaning. The estimate was sent and we agreed to the price. Bob scheduled the cleaning appropriately according to my input and crazy schedule.
The cleaning was to start at 9:30 AM. Nohe, the service man, arrived a bit early and got right to work. He even helped me move a heavy planter out of the way. He spent a little over 3 hours on the project. He was very pleasant to work with.
Overall, I am very pleased with the work performed. The roof and gutters are clean and he cleaned the area around the house well. He even cleaned the roof on a tiny storage shed next to the house.
 The only area that I am giving a "C", which is "Average", is the price. This is because there was no indication that there may be additional charges for the reasons that were given to me.  I believed that my house fell into the "under 2500 square feet" indicated in the deal, but the additional fees amounted to an increase of more than 25% over the Angie's List deal price. 
Here is why I feel the price is average instead of excellent.
--The Angie's List deal included "cleaning of your composition roof for your single story home up to 1,800 square feet or two and three story homes up to 2,500 square feet with a roof pitch up to 6/12 - Price will be adjusted accordingly for larger and steeper roofs". 
--The deal fine print does indicate that the price of $279 doesn?t include a $35 fuel fee which is added to your invoice. I expected this and did not include it in my calculation of the percentage increase.
-- I was surprised to find that the estimate for the work included additional fees for labor and fuel because  the house is ?slightly larger than the deal covers and roofing that extends out beyond the garage doors, front door and partial wrap around front porch. The additional amount was $95 for labor and $10 for fuel.
-- My home is two stories and 2190 square feet. It is basically a square box. There are areas of roofing that extend out so I understand that this must be taken into consideration.
--However, there is no indication that the additional fees take into account the actual size of the roof compared to what is allowed by the Angie's List Deal.  In other words, my house could have been a two story, 1000 square foot or a two-story, 2500 square foot home, and the additional fees may have been the same.
--The increase in cost amounts to and additional 25% for labor and 28% for fuel.
The rating for price could be improved to excellent if I knew that it was possible when I bought the deal AND if I was given a clear indication of how the additional fees were calculated.

--There is also a 3% convenience fee added if you use a credit card to pay the balance owed.
