"Wayne did a great job for us at a very reasonable price. He installed a new light, ceiling fan, and a heat/light/fan fixture for a bathroom. He was on time and finished at the estimated time. If you hire Wayne you will not be disappointed! He will definitely be my “go to” for all electrical needs."

"In early Spring 2015, I was in desperate need to replace my dozen year old vinyl pool liner. I contacted three companies for estimates. One took about four minutes to take a look and offered a bit of a cheaper price - but gave off a disinterested vibe. One quoted a higher price, but didn't get a great feeling off him either. Neither one brought liner pattern samples nor took the time to explain the process and work needing to be performed for a complete quality job.

Then I met Mike McMillion. He had vinyl pattern samples that he was able to leave with me so I could compare how they might look near my pool. He didn't try to upsell me a thicker liner with fear that the slightly thinner one wouldn't be every bit as sturdy as required for my pool - only more expensive. He explained how the liners might fade over time in the sun and recommended a blue backed liner rather than a white backed one to keep it looking its best for a longer time. He explained the process of smoothing the sand and mortar mixture below the liner to ensure a smooth pool bottom and prevent future holes, as well as a full list of what new hardware was included in his price. On the items he thought might be suspect (like the light fixture that had come unscrewed from the side wall of the pool and gave me a price IF it was indeed not fixable). He also clearly explained all possible issues he has seen unexpectedly in his past experience, both those that he would include in the original price and ones that could cost additional and why they could be bad/damaged or possibly too brittle from the years of constant sun exposure.

After considering my choices, Mike provided the most information and had the best personality and most reliable, honest demeanor. After paying my deposit, I expected him to begin the work in about a month. Probably two weeks later, I arrived home with the work underway. I saw him and/or his helper(s) doing everything he stated was to be done. I purchased my own pool bulb from Amazon and
that was my only additional cost from the originally agreed upon price.

Often contractors show up late or sporadically. Mike and McMiliion Pools showed up every clear day until the project was completed. He was very pleasant to have conversations with, his employees were personable and courteous,  and if he needed to leave water running to partially fill the pool or the vacuum running behind the new liner at the end of a day or overnight, he clearly explained what I should do at certain water levels or if it rained. Early spring and new water that was considerably cold found Mike (the owner) in the pool making adjustments and verifying his work before the pool was completely filled. I also asked him to check my pump and filter for leaks and he found and fixed a very minor tightening  issue for free. He didn't take a check for the remaining balance until the work was fully completed and verified. And when some small sections of the liner started to pull away from the 'lip' after a couple of months, a quick phone call (where he impressively answered the phone using my name) was all that was required and he stopped within a week to correct any issues.

I had a much better experience with the 'repair' than I did with the installation by another company and would (and have) recommended Mike and McMillion Pools to other friends. Thanks for the great work, Mike. The pool has been a lot of fun this year including a poolside wedding and a bride and groom that 'took the plunge' in their wedding attire.

FAQs for swimming pool heaters repair or service projects in Peytonsville, TN

Replacing a pool heater costs $3,000 on average. Final pricing depends on the type of heater (gas, electric, or solar) and your pool's size. Factor for swimming pool repair costs, at an average of $3,800. When you start experiencing issues with your pool heater, other equipment and structural failures often follow. Installation is often the least expensive for electric and gas heaters. Heat pumps and solar panels often cost several thousand dollars more to install.

A pool heater’s lifespan is determined by its type and proper upkeep. Solar heaters last 20 to 25 years, electric heat pumps perform for five to 10 years, and gas heaters remain effective for 5 years. Regular pool maintenance safeguards performance and prevents premature failure. Ensuring that you adhere to a strict annual service schedule protects your investment and maintains consistent heating efficiency.

Depending on the size of your pool, location, climate, and current energy prices, you’ll spend up to $20 per hour to heat a pool using propane, $9 per hour using natural gas, and $1 to $2 per hour for a heat pump. Northern climates require more energy and can double the price. Standard estimates allow homeowners to easily estimate the cost of heating a pool for a month. Propane heaters, for example, are known to burn around 1 gallon per hour per 100,000 BTUs.

An electric or gas heat pump will take eight to 14 hours to heat a pool, while a solar heat pump takes 24 to 72 hours. Multiply the number of gallons by 8.34 to get your total pounds of water. Divide this figure by your heater's BTU rating to determine how many hours it takes to raise the water temperature by 1 degree Fahrenheit.

If your pool heater is not raising the water temperature to the desired level, the issue is caused by cold ambient conditions rather than a malfunction. The best solution is to install a solar cover that locks in heat and boosts efficiency. A solar cover costing $120 to $250 enhances heat retention, ensuring your heater performs at its peak. Additionally, verify that all settings—such as thermostat calibration and water circulation—are properly adjusted to support optimal heating.

Regular annual maintenance is crucial to keep your pool heater running efficiently and to avoid high repair costs. Investing $100 to $200 in yearly maintenance prevents issues such as excessive noise, surging energy bills, and malfunctioning controls. This proactive care not only prolongs your heater’s lifespan but also ensures reliable performance throughout the season. Always refer to your warranty guidelines to follow the required maintenance procedures.
