"Based on prior experience with Cool Air Technologies and its owner, Bill McIntosh, I chose them to replace my HVAC system. I was not disappointed. Bill and his staff were friendly and professional, communicated and resolved issues found, and completed the work as scheduled. I happily recommend Cool Air Technologies."

"We hired Air-Tech to replace all the old ductwork in our home and install a new furnace and A/C unit. They did a great job. Alex Fish was extremely responsive to all of our questions, from start to finish. He was great at explaining all of the options, and the pro's and con's of each, before we signed up. He also stopped by several times during the installation, which lasted 4-5 days. The two technicians who did the work were extremely professional, tidy, polite, etc. They wore face masks at all times and even took a long break one day when we asked them to because we needed silence for an important Zoom meeting. All in all, Air-Tech is a highly professional outfit. While it's only been a few weeks since the installation, everything is working as it should and we are very happy with the outcome. Highly recommended!"

"Brandon came out on a Sunday and looked over the job site for details needed to present an estimate. Within a day I had the estimate with 3 options from low to high, all of which were reasonable the only difference being what equipment I wanted to install. Option #1 and #2 were lower end brands that were less expensive but since the difference in price betwee Option #1 and Option #3 was about $1400, I went to Option #3 which was their top tier brand, Carrier that clearly is an industry leader and trusted brand for longevity. I was installing a SINGLE ductless to cool a standard bedroom size room with a 18,000 BTU unit. The job took a total of about 5 hours since they were mounting the unit in a second floor bedroom and they needed to run the power/refrigerant lines two stories down to the compressor mounted on the wall. Everyone from Office Staff Jim to installers were absolutely wonderful to deal with. You can trust this company."

"I Called to get an in person quote for a tankless water heater flush and left this job with a whole house filter and a fridge connection. When Michael first arrived we inspected the tankless unit and tested the water to conclude flushing was not my best option. He then walked me through my options for home filters and we decided on a Halo system. Michael was very well educated on the subject and gave me the best value filter for my needs. He installed the unit the next day in less than a few hours and left me with a flawless work of art. I couldn't be more impressed with the professionalism he brings to this trade! I also requested to hook up a fridge and he did that in what seemed like 30 minutes. He will be the only plumber I call from now on!! Thank you Michael!!!"

"From beginning to end all of our interactions with Southland have been positive. Ray who initially consulted with us consistently responds quickly and is great to work with. The lead on our installation, Willie, was professional and efficient, managing a complex job to a timely completion. Follow up by office staff to complete necessary paperwork for rebates has been outstanding."

"Excellent customer service. Made two systems operate and gave important knowledge of the future life of these 15 or more year old systems and how they will need to be repaired or likely replacement once the new environmental laws on Freon goes into effect in 2020"

"Emilio arrived on time on the appointed day, inspected and assessed the outdoor unit, the lines and the indoor unit, and determined they could do the job as Darrow had described. We also asked if they could install an attic fan, as that had never been done, and we hoped it would keep the top floor cooler. After a phone call with Darrow and checking his credentials online, we settled on a price of $4,650. A couple of days later, Emilio arrived with a helper, and Darrow arrived with the new equipment. They completed the work in one day, were very neat and respectful of the house and the outdoor space, took away the old equipment and even flattened the boxes for recycling. Settling up with Darrow was easy. It was a total pleasure to deal with Darrow Mirsky and his team. He has a personal style that is just like if your brother-in-law (the one you like!) had all this knowledge and was taking care of this for you. Great customer service, and an excellent value for the cost of the work they performed! The new unit is working beautifully and we are happily cool now :) I would call them for service, and call them again if any other problems arise, and am confident now that we have a trustworthy AC contractor."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Pico Rivera, CA

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
