"We first used GMH to outfit our house with Natural gas piping, and upgrading to a on-demand water heater, my review is already listed on Angie's List. A's across the board. We've used them to keep our old heat pump going since. And when it was time, had them install our entire HVAC replacement-- swap out our old heat pump (electric strip supplemental) with a higher efficiency heat pump and NG supplemental. We also had them replace our entire ductwork system. The old system came with the house, was bottom of the line and poorly installed. GMH did a fantastic job again! They arranged for 5yr interest free financing for almost the entire cost. Our cost savings alone will wash out the cost of the install, after 5 yrs, it's money in our pocket for the 20yr warrantied system. From Tom, the sales consultant, to David the crew foreman, to Vinnie to trainee, we've always been impressed with GMH. In the end, anyone can sell you equipment. It's the crew that makes or breaks a company. I can not speak highly enough of everyone that I have ever came in contact with. I was home during the entire installation process, often under the house with them doing other things. I expressed my concern with openning up my crawl space to make it easier to work under there. The old install was poorly planned, blocking access to areas under the house, and making other areas very difficult to access. From Tom in his design, to David and his crew installing, they made it their personal project, going the extra mile to address my concerns, looking at it like it's their house, and how _they_ would want it done for themselves. The quality of their work was impressive, too. They used hard insulated duct as much as they were able, three times as much as the prior install, making it much more durable and effective. Yet, they laid it out in a way that no part of the house was blocked to access. They showed me how their methods would avoid issues that we had with the old install. Using proper sealing materials, attaching those materials in more durable ways to prevent the system from falling apart over the years. And when they were done, our yard was cleaner that when they arrived. You could not tell they had a mound of junk piled there hours before! The heart of the system was a 20 efficient Trane Heat Pump with a natural gas supplemental heater. The unit has a 10/20 year warranty and just looks impressive compared to our old one. It's so quiet! It's all controlled by a Trane smart WiFi thermostat that works with my existing Google Home. I can just say "Hey Google Warmer" and my system increases the temperature 2 degrees. Cool! I also have it programmed into my "Good Night" and "good morning" routines, so it lowers the temperature on my command when I go to bed, and warms the house back up when I wake up. Better than just the scheduled option, for us, since we don't have a normal schedule. Once it was all done, and they left, my wife complained the house was too warm! She was used to our 110 year old house leaking air and not having enough heat to compensate! I had to turn the thermostat down :) . Actually I just had to say "Hey Google Cooler" Next, I'm prepping our attic for blown-in insulation- I'm sealing up air leaks, building walkways and dams to contain the insulation. Good heat is great, but keeping it in will save us even more money, obviously. When the time comes to get the insulation, GMH will be the first ones I call! I can't speak highly enough of this company. They are professional, give confidence, friendly and personable, and go the extra mile to do things right."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Piedmont, SC

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
