"John is a good man, with experience to prove it. We have hired him twice now, to sort out a flooded basement (care of the City of Baltimore & their contractor, Spiniello), and then to retrofit all the horizontal pipes in our row home. Not only did he and his team solve our issues, but they made it look good. For a 120 year old row home, you can imagine the plumbing has been subject to a number of revisions, so it was a real pleasure to see them cut it all out (pipes corroded down to a pin hole), and replace every water bearing line with a singular, clear & straightforward system of logically placed cut-off valves, t-joints and what-have-you.
Because we had already had him out to solve a 1400 dollar flood problem the city blamed us for (and which later turned out to be their fault but they are not willing to pay for), he offered us this super low rate to get all the rest* upgraded (*all the main branches had been upgraded already, namely the verticals to the second floor). Johns original quote was for 1250 to do all the horizontals, so since i had him there i asked if he could run gas to our stove. Because of our recent purchases from him and since he was already there, he ran all the gas and got me two (all you need is one) gas cut off valves for an additional 150 bucks.
Home Depot quoted me 500 for the same job.
John's number resides firmly in my phone.

"Glenoak came out to reinstall a toilet that had been leaking . While there, they noticed a leak from the pressure tank, which needed to be replaced. They went out for the part w/o charging us for that time or travel. Unfortunately, the replacement part didn?t work, and ultimately they had to replace the entire toilet. They fixed a small gas pipe leak near our furnace while there, too.
Very professional, punctual, and competent.

"Everything went well. This is the third time we have used Mr. Fama. It's really nice to have someone you can rely on to be on time and do the job and know everything will done well. I use our storage room to pot plants etc. Unfortunately the only sink on this lower floor is a shallow sink in the bathroom and have to carry dirty pots etc. upstairs. They arrived on a very rainy day and covered all our floor with protection before starting. The sink was placed near the water pipe and a cabinet had to be moved. They moved the cabinet and installed the sink to a spot nearby. Removed boxes from that area and placed the cabinet there, next to the sink. They cleaned up and left the area spotless."

"We've used their plumbing, and they're very expensive.? They get the job done, but they're very expensive.? The work was done at my husband's mother's house that he was putting on the market. They're good. They do the work, but they're just so expensive.? They're pretty good about time. Somebody calls you if they're running late.? I will use them again, because I have a contract with them.? They get the job done, but they're just outrageously expensive."

"The technician arrived about 30 minutes late without calling to tell me; looked at the toilets and identified the problem fairly quickly. He was knowledgeable and considerate. The cost was a bit on the high side, but I never saw a plumbing problem that isn't resoved without a hefty fee! I recommend them again, though."

"I had a failing 20-year gas hot water heater. My client, who is a licensed journeyman HVAC and gas fitter, recommended that I call BG&E Home, because BG&E Home installs thousands of gas hot water heaters each year. I called BG&E Home on Friday to replace a 20 year old Rheem gas hot water heater, which was beginning to leak. The installer from BG&E Home arrived on time on Saturday morning. The removal of the old hot water heater and the installation of the new Rheem hot water heater was completed in less than 2 hours. The total cost was $1,160 as follows: $565 50 gallon gas Rheem hot water heater with a 6-year warranty $ 75 Montgomery County permit fee $ 50 Extension of warranty by 4 years with anode rod upgrade $320 Labor for installation $150 Labor for installation of expansion tank (code required) The $320 price for installation is a bargain. I checked with several reputable plumbers in Montgomery County; and their flat rate labor charge for replacing a gas hot water heater is about $800. Note that plumbers typically charge about $235 for the first hour and then a lower hourly rate after the first hour."
