We know it’s tough to find a home services contractor you can trust. With over six decades of experience, Blanton’s is a Raleigh and Fayetteville mainstay. Known for our professional approach, quality products. and guaranteed workmanship, we’re proud to offer heating, cooling, plumbing and electric solutions that knock your socks off.
"Cancelled all services with Blanton as well as this well pitched Wow Service Plan. Was given a good pitch about services provided. However, after scheduling twice for services provided by service plan, only to have them cancelled and told need to reschedule. Today is was need to reschedule because they are anticipating (four days from now) a high volume of emergency calls due to cold weather and freezing temperatures. What cold weather? 52 and 43 at night are not freezing temps; 69 and 67 daytime are not freezing temps. So you reschedule appointments four days in advance with no actual justification or confirmation the day of of what you think might happen? Sounds more like laziness or a reason not to fulfill appointments made almost two weeks prior. Second, why have an online system that allows you to book an appointment and date but when you call to complete the appointment process, tell us that the dates that show on the calendar as “available” don’t actually mean they are available? The lady I spoke to said they are run by two different departments. Sounds like you need to update your systems and booking process that actually shows dates of availability so customers don’t waste time picking a date that isn’t actually available and waste time. Or get rid of calendar option altogether so you cannot select a date that isn’t in “real” time."

Hello, my name is Triston Hilburn. I have an extensive knowledge of home repairs and remodeling. I have completed two complete house flips and use my knowledge almost everyday to continuously improve my home as well as the homes of others. I began working as a "handyman" around the age of 15. My father taught me majority of the skills and I have continued to hone them over the years. My previous clients would say I am professional and an efficient, fast worker. I am honest and upfront and most of all will respond to you in a timely manner to discuss your needs! Thank you for your consideration of me as your next Handyman.

Quality crawl space ductwork lasts between 15 and 20 years, though this varies based on environmental conditions and maintenance practices. Metal ducting offers greater longevity than flexible options, particularly in moisture-prone areas.
Regular professional inspections can identify minor issues before they escalate to major problems. When your system reaches the 15 to 20-year mark, having a professional evaluation can help determine whether repair or replacement represents the more economical long-term solution.
Standard homeowners' insurance policies often exclude coverage for ductwork replacement due to age-related deterioration or normal wear. However, if your ductwork sustains damage from covered perils such as fire or certain water events, your policy might provide compensation. Review your specific policy language or consult with your insurance representative to understand your coverage limitations. Some insurers offer supplemental coverage options for home systems that might provide additional protection for your HVAC components.
Watch for multiple disconnected sections, widespread corrosion, collapsed ducts, or extensive mold contamination. Other indicators include dramatically increased energy bills, rooms that never reach comfortable temperatures, or persistent musty odors throughout your home. Systems approaching 20 years of service that require frequent repairs often make better candidates for replacement than continued maintenance.
A professional inspection with specialized equipment can definitively assess your ductwork's condition.
Selective reuse of existing ductwork components depends entirely on their condition and compatibility with your new system. Sections without damage, corrosion, or contamination might remain serviceable when properly cleaned and sealed. However, mixing old and new components can sometimes create efficiency issues or accelerate the deterioration of the entire system.
Consult with your HVAC professional for an objective assessment of which components, if any, remain suitable for continued use.
While not mandatory for every situation, crawl space encapsulation provides significant protection for your new ductwork investment in moisture-prone environments. This process, costing between $5,000 and $15,000, creates a moisture barrier that helps protect both your ductwork and your home's structural elements.
The decision depends largely on your specific crawl space conditions and local climate factors. A professional evaluation can determine whether encapsulation would provide meaningful benefits for your particular circumstances.
