"Called and told them there was a small leak at a fitting in the indoor unit and was still working. Tech showed up, looked at at the fitting, and said it could have leaked contaminants into the system. When I ask how it could leak into the system while its under pressure, he could not give me a straight answer. Just kept saying it would be an all day job and they might have to run a vacuum pump overnight (wow, for small lines 25ft long ???). The cost would be about $800. I told him I could not do that, I could buy a new unit for $600. Couldn't he just tighten the fitting and add some refrigerant. He then said he could not do that and it would be $100 for the diagnosis. What diagnosis, he didn't run the unit or check anything. Not sure he ever took his hands out of his pockets. I'm out $100 for nothing. This was a really bad experience. Later I had a friend of a friend tighten the fitting and add a little refrigerant. It is working great now."

"For no more than $100 in parts plus seven hours of labor for two employees, I was charged $3,000. That is $429/hr combined or $214/employee. And that was AFTER I complained about the original $5,700 they originally wanted to justify and charge for the work performed (moving drain and supply lines and installing a shower valve for a master bath remodel). At least the quality of work seemed satisfactory. Reflecting on our extensive 2020 remodel, our experience with Sarkinen Plumbing was the worst! I do not plan to use this company again nor recommend them to others."

"Tony was our 5th tech he was able to locate the problem 4 others had missed $1,180.00 later. Tony was professional, thorough he closed up crawl space doors, wound the hose back up folded up ladders. Tony was very knowledgeable we received a courtesy call shortly before his arrival. I was very impressed with his service and he went all the way with himself. I would hire him back every time."

"Communications was a challenge from the beginning, project started and stopped multiple times. I was blamed for much of this. Completed the first part of the install but the vendor had to come out to finish due to more communications issues."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Longview, WA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
