"Dave's team did an excellent job on our project. We had a 65' stretch of property edge infested with neighbor's milkweed rhizomes. Seven shrubs, including two huge pampas grass mounds had to be removed, then replanted. All soil containing rhizomes was removed. Rhizome barrier was installed and clean soil put in. The job was done in the time frame given to us. The team worked hard and everything was done to my satisfaction. We definitely recommend and will hire again."

"This work took place eleven months ago, but that gives us the ability to say that everything Kurt’s team planted looks great and is growing nicely, except one bush that is struggling, which Kurt agreed to replace without hesitation. We have been in our house for 22 years, and finally got around to replacing the crummy landscaping and walkway the developer put in. Distinct Landscapes installed a paver walkway, and a complete set of bushes, flowers and a crape myrtle tree. The work was done very well and within budget, and the crew distinguished itself by how well they cleaned up the site. The spacing between plantings to allow for future growth seems perfect. Installation of pavers took 3 months to even begin, but it was done in one day. The constant rain played a part for the delay, but I did feel that the project was on the back burner. We wanted the pavers to match the patio pavers in color. We went with his recommendations. The pavers do not match - appear the same color of cement pavement. Upon inquiry, was told that they had heard that a lot and that it will take a few months and color may change. The installation looks great but we are very disappointed with the color and hope it does change to match the patio. I will respond back in a few months and let you know if pavers did change color.

"I contacted Ben Burris after several recommendations from the neighborhood message board. It's a father and sons operation. Ben's son Ben came out at the agreed upon date and time. Ben was very personable and listened to what I wanted to have done. Before he left he was able to quote me a price and followed up within a day with a written cost and contract. On the day of service, they arrived on time. They dug up the area to the specified width. However once the area was dug up we could see a better view of the existing driveway. The existing driveway was a little less than half the depth that the addition was going to be. We did a closer inspection of the existing driveway,. Some areas around the edges were crumbling and cracks were beginning to form throughout. It was apparent a bad patch job had been performed to make the driveway look presentable. I just purchased the home just 7 months ago. My job changed from widening the driveway to demolition of the existing driveway and installation of a new wider driveway. They were still able to complete the work in the original 2 day time frame. .Ben was very meticulous about how the finished driveway looked. When the job was complete they cleaned the area so well there wasn't even chunks of clay dirt in the grass. They provided instructions on when I could park on the driveway and time table to have driveway sealed for maintenance. It was such a positive experience I will be using Ben Burris for the maintenance."

"I had a dead 85-foot, double-trunk, oak tree that I needed cut down. The tree was on the property line, interrupting a 4-foot chain link fence. I wanted enough of a stump left so that I wouldn?'t have a gap in the fence.  On Sunday, July 28, I purchased Freestate?'s deal of $2350 for a Full 8-hour day of tree trimming. On Monday, July 29, Freestate sent me an Angie?s-List email, asking me to provide a phone number and regular email address. They also asked what I wanted done with the cut wood, and informed me that Ben, the owner would come over during the weekend to look at the tree.  I said whatever is cheapest. Ben showed up on Saturday, August 2, to look at the tree. He said that for the deal price, he could cut the tree, as well as the large fallen limbs and Japanese maple stump that I also asked about.  He examined the grounds to verify that his bucket truck and accessory equipment could be driven up to the tree. He warned that one of the double-gate doors would probably need to be removed temporarily, since it wouldn?'t open all of the way. Freestate emailed me the proposal on Sunday, August 3. As requested, I signed it and emailed it back. On Saturday, August 9, Freestate both emailed me and phoned me, to schedule the tree cutting for Monday, August 11, at 7:00AM. Monday morning, Ben arrived on time with an assistant. They removed one of the gate doors and then backed the bucket truck through the gate and up to the tree. They spent several hours cutting the tree down in segments, starting at the top. Periodically, they lifted logs into their truck with a bobcat and dropped the logs off over at a neighbor?'s house. After finishing the tree, they reinstalled the gate door, cleaned up the stray branches, raked, and spread some grass seeds where the vehicles had driven. They left around 2:15PM.
