"HD Mechanical did an excellent job. After trying to fix my water heater, the tech offered me two solutions, the first to repair the old unit and the second to replace it. I chose to replace the unit because it was 20 years old. He was able to return in two days and spend many hours at my home. The tech was courteous, professional, explained everything and made sure everything was working properly before he left."

"Cal Climate Corp had been keeping my very old ac system alive for the past 3 years at a reasonable price and with excellent service. Bob and Tom are honest and conscientious so when the time came to replace the entire ac system, I was happy that they were available to do the work...particularly in the midst of another sweltering Southern California summer. The quoted price was much less than I anticipated, the work was completed in one day, and I was perfectly comfortable leaving them to do the work unattended. I returned home to find my home as clean as when I left it...and, thankfully, much cooler. I recommend them unreservedly."

"Southland gave us the best quotes for our Heat/AC unit replace. They also told us about rebates from Los Angeles (other businesses we contacted did not mention this). Their crew were professional and worked hard. We especially appreciate the care of Nick and Elbert from Southland. The unit went up in a day and looks great (and works very well, too). We are grateful to Southland for the good experience and excellent customer service. Thank you!"

"Emilio arrived on time on the appointed day, inspected and assessed the outdoor unit, the lines and the indoor unit, and determined they could do the job as Darrow had described. We also asked if they could install an attic fan, as that had never been done, and we hoped it would keep the top floor cooler. After a phone call with Darrow and checking his credentials online, we settled on a price of $4,650. A couple of days later, Emilio arrived with a helper, and Darrow arrived with the new equipment. They completed the work in one day, were very neat and respectful of the house and the outdoor space, took away the old equipment and even flattened the boxes for recycling. Settling up with Darrow was easy. It was a total pleasure to deal with Darrow Mirsky and his team. He has a personal style that is just like if your brother-in-law (the one you like!) had all this knowledge and was taking care of this for you. Great customer service, and an excellent value for the cost of the work they performed! The new unit is working beautifully and we are happily cool now :) I would call them for service, and call them again if any other problems arise, and am confident now that we have a trustworthy AC contractor."

"Setting up the appointment was easy. They offered to come out the next day but I needed to wait until Friday, my day off. Mike showed up on time. Did a good professional job removing and installing a new 50 gallon water heater. Mike also tested my water pressure and noted it was too high. For an agreed upon small additional charge he replaced my pressure regulator and a shut off valve."

"They were absolutely wonderful. It was the hottest day of the year and our air conditioning broke and I couldn't find anybody to come out on that day. Everybody was out two or three days. The guy came out that day and he had the part in his truck and fixed it. It was awesome. I couldn't say enough about him."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Temple City, CA

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
