The ARS secretaries could take a lesson. They somehow got my phone # and house # wrong! It made for some confusions. Luckily I called them when the serviceman didn't come or call on time. We straightened out the phone # and Manuel had to call me to find the house. Tiny errors make a big difference. Overall, the experience was fine because the service man was so kind and helpful. I will try them again, but check and recheck the details."

Jeremy Williams took my call and after I explained that I needed to replace my 18 year old water heater, he asked what time of the day would be best to come out and take care of my replacement. He explained that he liked to provide same day service and any hours I would be available would work for him. "Our heat pump needed to be replaced and our furnace wasn't as efficient as it could have been so we decided to replace it all. After a consultation Bassett recommended a system for our house that included a furnace and standard air conditioner. We also had zones in our house but because we have an open stairway (in a not that big house) they also recommended doing away with the zones. We went with the recommendation and that first winter (last year) our house was so cold in the winter months. We were told that by letting the fan circulate all the time it would eliminate cold spots. What we didn't realize is that they never inspected or evaluated our current ductwork. It is undulated and as a result the air that circulates is always cold. The upstairs is cold and without a quartz heater in our family room, it too would be cold. We called them back to check and we were told that it seemed to be working fine. Putting a thermometer in the register said that there was heat. Later, in this summer my husband talked to them again anticipating this winter. We were told we might want to go back to having zones. It would only cost us another $1,000 or so to make that change. 

As for installation, that was done very professionally and neatly. They were prompt and polite. I would say to do your own research before Bassett ever comes and be prepared to make a decision based on that rather than what they may recommend. If I could figure out how to put that old furnace back in, I sure would. It worked much better for winter heat than this one does."

"The technician that preformed the service(s), Austin C. (Plumbing Pro), with Service Plus Heating Cooling & Plumbing, was professional, knowledgeable, friendly & efficient. Initially we were just looking for someone to change our kitchen faucet with one we had already purchased. We decided to go with Service Plus because of there good rating on Home Advisor. After Austin changed our kitchen faucet he spoke with us about there, Service Plus Heating Cooling & Plumbing, maintenance program. He explained that if we signed up for the maintenance program with them today, a free water heater flush & fill came with it. At least I believe it was free? I could be mistaken about that? We had been looking to change from our current heating/cooling/plumbing companies maintenance program to someone new because we were just not happy with them. So, it was perfect timing for us to make the change. While Austin was draining the water heater he noticed calcium & pieces of metal. He showed me the calcium & pieces of metal coming from my water heater while it was being drained, and also explained to me what the reason(s) for it was. Come to find out our water softener was not working properly which caused the problems with the water heater. We could have waited until the water heater actually stopped working, but decided to just change it now before it failed and we didn’t have any hot water. We also decided to replace our current water softener since it was not working properly and Austin noticed that there was no brand name or sticker from the original installers. For all we know, it could have been a used system sold to us as new. Either way, it wasn’t working properly so we had it replaced by Austin with Service Plus Heating Cooling & Plumbing, Inc. Needless to say, we highly recommend Service Plus Heating Cooling & Plumbing, Inc. & hopefully you will have Austin, or I’m sure any of there professionals, help you with your heating, cooling and/or plumbing needs."

"During the recent hot weather streak, I turned on my AC for the first time this year only to find it blowing warm air.  I prepared myself for the worst, knowing that the system was 14 years old. 
The technician, Sean, arrived later that day and quickly found the problem.  It was just a stuck fan on the AC unit.  He quickly unjammed it and checked all the other functions of the system while on site.  I then asked him if it was time to consider system replacement, and he told me this particular system would probably have about six more years of life.  I was charged a very reasonable fee and he was on his way.  The technician was clean, well-mannered, and respectful of my home.

I have used this company for about five years now.  NEVER have I felt pressured into a sale or for a repair that was not needed.  If they would have told me the system needed replaced, I would have gone with their recommendation.

Having worked in the plumbing division of corporate owned HVAC companies for the past 8 years, I had become accustomed to high pressure sales tactics from the technicians and that system replacement was the only option.  I would caution other homeowners who read this to be leery of many of these HVAC companies out there, but not Smith and Son. Please stay privately owned and keep up the good work!"
