"Our hot water heater began leaking from inside of the unit.  The existing unit was very old and needed to be replaced.  After researching Angie's List, I made a purchase for a replacement hot water heater with Henson Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing.  Henson Mechanical reached out to me later that day to schedule my replacement, and to verify information about my existing setup.  They were able to send an installer out the very next day.
Prior to his visit, Kurt Schmeisser called to inform me that he would be the person to install the new water heater.  Kurt was prompt, and extremely professional.  During the removal of the old unit, and the installation of the new unit, Kurt made sure not to damage anything in my house.  He made sure to put down plastic over runs of carpet in my basement to ensure that it was not soiled.
Since it is now code, Kurt installed an expansion water tank.  This was included in the initial purchase price of the unit, and was not an unexpected and added expense.
Before he departed, Kurt showed me how to manipulate the temperature of the tank.  He then demonstrated how to ignite the pilot light if there was ever a need.
Through the entire process, Kurt was very polite and professional.  I would consider using Henson Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing for future projects.

"Jim kept his word on appointment times and displayed a wealth of knowledge on problem resolutions.  The septic pipe repair removed the toilet backup.  The sink faucets now work without leakage.  The Jacuzzi now works very well (all jets function).  Getting hot water throughout the house.  Jim located and repaired hot water pump (no charge).

"Franklins crew arrived as schelduled and after inspeccting the pipes and septic system, determined it was NOT the main drain but merely a busted tub drain that had been damaged during a recent remodel. While there they replaced a p-trap, jetted the lines, emptied the septic tank and replaced the busted pipe. Their crew was AMAZING! They knew exactly what they were doing and didn't go out of their way to break the bank. The work was done in a timely manner and I was notified about each repair or procedure in real time via text or photos or call. I was in utter shock that I had been so bamboozled by such a trusted big name national plumber on my 1st estimate and will NEVER use another Septic Specialist/ Plumber unless it is Franklin's. Twice the work for less than half the original estimate and the work was honest and superior. I could not wait to write this review! It is so rare especially as a woman, to find honest contractors. I would highly recommend this company for all your septic and plumbing. There's a certain peace of mind that comes with knowing a company comes with good marks. "Choice was fast, efficient, and kept me posted on the progress of the claim. Although the water leak issue was discovered on a Friday, they had a plumber there to investigate by Saturday morning. When it was determined that the 20+ year old heater needed to be replaced, the replacement ordered, on-site, and installed by Wednesday morning. I am glad that we opted for the Choice Ultimate plan as other than the initial $65 service fee, all but one $50 ancillary expense was covered."

"Called The Plumbologist  up on a Friday afternoon and they were here in 30-45 mins. Very professional, friendly and reasonable costs-wise. I would definitely recommend them and will hire them again as I will probably need a new water heater soon. Thanks Plumbologist, great job!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

NOTE: This review has been edited. Our original review for Tile Creations Big Deal bathroom renovation stated that I was satisfied with their work and that they did a good job. Our original complaint focused on difficulties in communication, and Tile Creations' refusal to honor the second of two Big Deals that we had purchased.

A professional who came to give an estimate on that second Big Deal project pointed out some major workmanship issues that that we had not originally identified. We have sent photographs and descriptions of the problems found to Tile Creations and we have changed our review to reflect these problems.

The major problems identified include:

Floor tile was installed directly onto the uneven, cracked concrete base that remained after the old tile was removed. Concrete backer board was not installed as promised in the Big Deal and the statement of work provided by Tile Creations prior to beginning work. The resulting tiles are unevenly spaced, not flush with each other, and not level.

Two different colors of grout were used in the tub surround. Most of the grout was a light gray color; the grout along the tub was a darker reddish color. The darker color draws attention to the uneven grout lines where some new tiles had to be replaced in the course of installation.

The grout used in the project was very crumbly and rough, and is flaking off in some places. It was not smoothed, cleaned, or sealed as specified in the Big Deal.

The baseboards and shoe molding still show some raw wood where they were not completely painted.  There are noticeable gaps between the wood and the floor. The finish work is sloppy.

Although we specified oil rubbed bronze for the plumbing fixtures and accessories, the tub drain plug and overflow cover are shiny chrome.

As our desired resolution, we are asking that the work be completed as described in the Big Deal that we purchased and in the written statement of work from Tile Creations.

    Tiles should be evenly spaced, flush with each other, and level.
    Grout should be all the same color, smoothed, cleaned, and sealed.
    Baseboards and shoe molding should be neatly finished and completely painted.
    Fixtures should all be the specified color - oil rubbed bronze.

If they will not complete the job as spelled out in the Big Deal and their statement of work, we'd like a refund so we can get someone else to fix these problems."

"Chad, Carol, and Adam were fantastic. Chad was able to articulate each and every step of the tasks to be accomplished. Carol was meticulous and very conscientious about getting some mold residue abated and the painted. Adam was detail oriented and was patient with our MANY questions concerning the installation of our balcony door. He made several constructive suggestions concerning perfecting the aesthetics both inside and out. We have hired Chad and his team to complete a larger scale job. Chad isn’t trying to make bank on this one job. His economic suggestions to save on each aspect of the job is much appreciated. He WILL work within your state budget and is very honest about his estimates. We look forward to working him on other projects."
