"We had an above ground oil tank removed from the basement. The staff were professional. They came in and had the project done within a few hours which included removing the remaining oil, cutting the tank and removing the remaining lines. The oil smell was intense, but they had a spray or something that they used to minimize the smell. We are very pleased with the services."

"Experience for tank removal was fine, the experience for spill remediation was what was unexpected. You're charged for each day they come out, and on average we had them on site for about 4 hours a day (sometimes a little over) and per their contract you're charged for their transit time back and forth from your site. At one point we were charged a half day charge because they left equipment on site that they had to come back for the next day, even though the project was done. Needless to say, even with an MD reimbursement program for oil tank spill cleanups (which isnt a guarantee and can take over a year for reimbursement) had we been better briefed about the potential costs up front, even from the time the spill was discovered, the experience would have been better. Additionally there were delays because someone forgot the keys to equipment and another person had to drive over (hours into the start) and other issues that resulted in a less than stellar experience. Their work quality was fine enough, the communication, particularly on non visible efforts (I understand they have to drive offsite to dump the dirt, go submit samples, etc) had room for improvement, along with their charge model."

FAQs for water or fuel tank remove projects in Waldorf, MD

There are several reasons why you might need to remove an oil tank. In some areas, local regulations require tanks to be removed after a certain period. Leaking tanks can pose hazards to drinking water and the environment. Plus, many municipalities won't allow property sales until an inspection confirms the oil tank is safe.

One option for disposing of an oil tank is to have your removal pro take it to a dismantling yard or salvage yard for recycling. If a salvage yard isn’t an option, you can contact a local landfill or a local oil tank removal service for help finding a proper disposal location for your tank. Typically, you’ll need to show there’s no sludge or residue in the tank.

A leaking oil tank reveals itself through increased energy bills and a noticeable oily sheen on water surfaces, which signals a malfunction. You may also experience strong oil odors and observe stained grass and deteriorating vegetation near your property. These clear warning signs demand immediate professional evaluation to protect the environment and secure your property’s safety.

Yes, states mandate soil testing during oil tank removal to detect hazardous pollutants that harm the environment. This testing confirms that no soil contamination exists. Certified specialists collect soil samples to meet regulatory requirements and ensure property safety. Conducting these tests protects water quality and the structure’s integrity while immediately triggering any necessary remediation measures.
