"Phil and his team did a great job and had great suggestions to how to accomplish what I was looking to do. They took all my downspouts below ground, combined them together including my sump pump and installed pop up emitters. Overall, it is a much better solution than the previous plastic flex pipes that discharged directly on my lawn. Also regraded a few poor drainage areas of the yard. I thought the pricing was reasonable and would hire them again."

"On 12/30/24 PVI Group, LLC, managed by Mr. Cory Henderson, installed a 34’ x 20’ concrete driving pad for me in a very expert manner. The driving pad was installed in a single day by his team, who arrived early. My neighbors also like the work. I heartily endorse PVI Group, LLC."

"I contacted Mark's Lawn and Landscape in late March 2018 about installing a paver foundation ( 12 by 16) for a shed. I made an appointment for early morning and Mark was right on time traveling from Halethorpe to Laurel. Note that the four other firms I called said that for such a small job there was no need for a site inspection prior to the work starting. Mark quickly gave me an estimate and a time frame for when he could complete the work. For the rest of the day my thought was that maybe I could find a contractor who might do the work for somewhat less money. About three days later Mark's proposal came and the cost to do the work was exactly what he quoted and I knew then that I would give him the job. When Mark and his crew came to do the work he recommended a different location for the foundation than mine and I was pleased after taking his recommendation. Mark's crew did an excellent job installing a perfectly level foundation in a day's time and grading the area around the foundation. I asked Mark to inspect the job after completion and he said he would certainly do this. Yes, this was a small job but I was so pleased with Mark's attentiveness to my needs and requests."

"We had work done on the stone patio around our pool. He also did drainage work around an area of our house that often floods. It has really made an incredible difference! Especially with all the rain we have had this year! I am so grateful to Sal and his workers! I would highly recommend their company!"

"The GPro team were so meticulous! They measured really carefully and the result is a walkway that is not only beautiful, it drains water away from my house. I won’t have any more puddles or ice patches to contend with. They were also really careful to preserve the plants I wanted to keep, so now I have a lovely walkway and my garden is still intact, too. I’m really pleased with their work."

"I needed to have 6 Eastern White Pines and 1 Spruce tree remove along my property line between me and my neighbor's driveways. The white pines were about 50 years old and  30 to 50 feet tall.  Also along the pine trees was a stone wall .  Freestate Tree Removal's quote was the best price of four estimates I received.  They arrived at the time they said they would and completed the job that day.  They cut the trees down, chipped all resulting brush and debris.  They even removed an existing pile of debris that I had accumulated from fallen limbs due to an ice storm.  They loaded and hauled away all the logs which could not be chipped.  All 7 stumps were removed.  The area was raked and blown clean of debris.  Watching the professional way in which they protected our driveways and the expert protection of the wall was a sight to behold.  I would highly recommend Freestate Tree Service to anyone."

"We get several estimates for our driveway paving and as soon as we met Oscar, the owner of Solid Brick Contracting, we instantly knew that he would be the one we would hire for the job. The price he quoted was very fair. We liked dealing with the owner of the company, instead of with a salesman. Oscar also showed us another job he recently completed so that we could see his work first hand. Oscar and his crew were totally professional, they started the job on time and were completed within a week (give or take a day or two due to a few rainouts). The paved driveway turned out beautiful and Oscar solved a few of our drainage concerns by installing drains under the driveway. We are very pleased with the EP Henry stone product that Oscar uses."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in White Marsh, MD

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
