"My grandson flushed his little yellow bus down the toilet Friday afternoon. I called several plumbers in the area. By late Saturday afternoon I had only 1 returned call saying they could come out Monday morning. A friend suggested I call Gentille Plumbing and Heating. I called them and they said they could come early Sunday morning. Ryan arrived promptly as promise and quickly determine how to approach the issue and retrieved the little yellow bus. Cleanup was quick and pricing fair. Ryan was professional , friendly and was on his way within 45 minutes of arrival. Thank You Gentille Plumbing and Heating"

"Extremely happy with Sila technicians that came to install the gas piping for our outdoor grill. They were professional, explained everything in detail and I am very satisfied with the overall experience I had with Sila. Highly recommend their services and will definitely be using them again for future work."

"This past Friday afternoon we developed a leak under our kitchen sink that put both the sink and dishwasher out of commission. We don't know any plumbers so I checked Angie's List for local plumbers and found Rafas Plumbing Services. The company had good reviews and was located in the next town so I gave Rafael a call. He had me text him pictures of the pipes, confirmed he could handle the job, and within 60 minutes of my initial phone call he arrived at our house. I assumed he'd need to run over to Home Depot and perhaps return the next day to do the work. But he actually had the replacement parts in hand and was able to fix the leak. His price was more than reasonable. Would absolutely recommend Rafael and will use him again."

"Dan provided prompt high quality service that I can always rely on. Dan converted my old oil heating system to a high efficiency gas system (Burnham Alpine) in 2014. It has been working great for 4+ years without a single issue until yesterday when the 2nd floor heating zone stopped working. So I reached out to him by email for an appointment for a fix. One hour later, he responded with a couple of questions like system pressure etc.. After several back and forth email communications, he identified a potential problem with my thermostat and suggested what I could do if I felt comfortable, otherwise he would come out to my home for the fix. So I followed his instructions: testing the thermostat by pulling out the wires and twisting together. After I re-tightened the wires back to the thermostat, the heating system kicked on. I am so grateful for his quick help to fix the issue during the weekend. It was very stressful when the heating system was down in cold weather, and Dan service really brought me this peace of mind."

"Ray quoted a replacement natural gas steam boiler at a price well under what both Boston Standard and Sila quoted me. Well under meaning close to 20% less. Ray is very responsive by phone and he shows up when he says is going to. Ray had done maintenance on our old boiler prior to this complete replacement. He actually performed maintenance on our old steam boiler, unlike when Boston Standard and Sila did maintenance they would simply turn it on and made sure it fired up. When Ray came and did maintenance after the 4 years we had both Boston Standard and Sila maintain our boiler he disassembled and cleaned out the incoming piping, replaced the glass water tube level, added a skimming drain, skimmed the boiler, etc. The prior 2 companies never did that level of work and it was in bad shape. In addition, not many technicians have knowledge of steam boilers these days even though they are still quite common in New England homes. Back to the new replacement boiler that we just had completed. Ray did a fantastic job on the installation. I really couldn't ask for better service. He was timely and efficient (we had our heat back on the same day), explained everything thoroughly (usually multiple times for my benefit) and has called and come back to check on everything a couple times since the installation. He's really gone above and beyond. We have 1-pipe steam radiators and he understands the intricacy of steam quite well. Ray also did all the plumbing when we had our kitchen renovated. He was our contractor's choice for a plumber (which is how we found Ray) which gave him that extra credibility knowing other professionals use his services. I would not hesitate to use Ray again in the future and recommend him to everyone."

"John  was great. Professional, punctual, a pleasure to work with. The installation was during a period of several large snowstorms, which made it much more difficult to get in and out of the basement with the tools and equipment. John displayed a great attitude throughout the installation process. He dismantled the old boiler and some of the piping and removed the old overflow tank and installed the new one, working long hours to make sure we had heat in the dead of winter. I would definitely hire him  again.. <br />"

"Great job repairing a toilet for my elderly parents (tank filled slowly; ballcock was replaced). Charged by the hour, reasonable price, no BS. Responsive - would have come the same day but I could not accommodate so they came the day afterward. Also did a minor faucet repair. Good value for money. Recommend!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Winthrop, MA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
