"We have a finished basement and a crawl space in the storage area of our basement.  We have found after large rain storms recently water has been increasing in our crawl space. After one storm we found over 6 inches of water above the gravel in the crawl space and purchased a temporary pump to pump out the water, discarded the plastic vapor barrier with concern of mold growing on it and began to see seepage through the foundation wall to the basement. 
In order to find a solution we scheduled four appointments with Angie's list highly regarded basement waterproofing contractors.  We were surprised to find that each contractor provided different solutions ranging in cost from $13,814 to $1,950.  We were impressed with Mr. Norfolk's honesty and straight forward approach.  He noted that he could do some of the solutions provided by other contractors with piping systems to a sump pump but suggested to start with a more cost effective solution of just adding a sump pump to the crawl area and replacing the current basement sump pump that was 27 years old.  If additional solutions were needed in the future he could preform them but why spend the extra money at this time if not necessary. The work was performed on February 1st and took two workman 3.5 hours to complete.  The workman explained how the system worked and asked that we please follow up if we had any questions.  The only area I could see improvement was clean up as after they cleaned up I had to again sweep the work area and vacum the carpets covered by their drop cloths. There was also debris and concrete mix left on the driveway.

"It went extremely well! They were punctual, hardworking and professional. It was necessary to dig up my neighbor's landscaping, so they were very careful to disturb only what was necessary and to restore everything to its original condition. They even replaced her broken underground downspout extension (which was draining into my basement!) without comment or additional charge. When my neighbor accused them of causing a problem, MJ was quick to respond and the team on-site made a point of apologizing to her in person. I don't think MJ caused the problem, so I was very impressed that they "went high" to investigate the matter and, as I said, apologize for the inconvenience she felt she suffered. The work they did inside to remove mold and seal the wall was thorough and neat. The gentleman doing the work cleaned up everything and took all of his equipment and trash with him. his is especially important since he was working with strong chemicals. My contact in the office was prompt to address anything I threw her way. It was easy to make payments online. Best of all - no sign of water in the basement since they were here!!"

"Well. He was professional and I liked his tolerance of my ignorance of HVAC systems. He was patient and explained well enough for me. But I didn't expect his time to be over $100/hr. I'm no HVAC labor or market expert, so I guess that's ok."

"I was disappointed. I was planing on selling my condo. The guy told me I needed to change out my outlets by my stove. He wan't aware of county code. I felt like he was trying to up charge me. Then he refused to give me a good report. Then I went down to the county and they said I didn't need to update them and they were still under code. Then I had to go to another inspection to get the report to sell my condo. They first guy wanted to charge me over 300.00 to swap out to new outlet."
