I called DraperyKing and my call was promptly returned to set-up an appointment for consultation at no charge.  David arrived on time for the appointment.  He listened to the vision and needs I had for the windows.  Once he understood what my goals were, he provided ideas and options for me to choose from, (roman shades, blinds, curtains, etc.).  David also provided a clear explanation of the transparency/privacy the different options and types of materials would provide.  He was also very helpful with color selection, (from sample books) to ensure it would blend nicely.  David is a professional and it shows!  On the day of installation, the installer arrived on time.  He was courteous, working neatly and quickly caring about all the details.  He even had to reposition one of the shades; he voluntarily puttied in the small holes and had the proper color of touch-up paint!  This gentlemen was fantastic!  The first time I used the shades the tension appeared a little off on two of the shades so I called David.  He responded quickly and fixed the concern with no difficulty.  Overall, this experience was great and I highly recommend them.  It is refreshing to work with qualified, professionals.  Thank-you DraperyKing!

"Tommy contacted me as soon as he was notified by HA of my request for service. He arranged to call on the next Monday to schedule an appointment during Christmas week. We agreed on Friday morning . He made a courtesy call to let me know when he would arrive. After looking at my broken shade he called the seller (an online company) for me, and then called the manufacturer and explained the problem. Since the shade was under warranty the company agreed to ship a replacement at no charge to me. I paid only the standard trip charge."

"Overall I'm pleased.  The shutters look great and they were delivered within the time frame promised.  I was also impressed that when they came out to measure and again to install I was called to let me know they were on the way prior to the appointment time.
The installers removed the existing wood blinds from the windows and stacked them in a pile in one room prior to installing the shutters  I was slightly surprised they didn't haul them off for me or even ask if I wanted them hauled off.  If you think about it many other items you have replaced in your home are hauled off as a normal part of the service such as fence panels, garage doors, mattresses, carpet etc.  I do have to caveat this though as I work from home and was on a conference call when the installers finished and couldn't really speak with them.  Additionally, the installers took down one set of drapes (I think the mounting interfered with installation of the shutters) and again, I was a little surprised they left the drapes on the floor and did not offer to rehang them.
I would definitely work with DFW Premium Shutters again.  The shutters look great and the installation related concerns I mention are of low significance but are the difference between a good experience and an awesome experience.

"Robert contacted me almost immediately on Angie's list to set up an appointment to measure the windows.  We set up the meeting for the follwoing week, and took measurements.  He set up a follow-up appointment to have his team that does the work verify the measurements from the outside of the house, to ensure there were no surprises.  Robert did not pressure us into trying to do work on additional windows or other work on the house at this time, which I had experienced with other quotes I had received.  He then ordered the windows, and although I needed to follow-up to ensure what date the windows would be available, he was always able to take my call and got back to me quickly.
Yesterday the windows were installed.  Bill came and did the work by himself in 2 hours.  I was amazed that he was able to knock out the old windows and secure the new windows on his own.  You would never know he had done any work around the framing as there was NO DAMAGE to any of the sheetrock surrounding the windows.  Wow. Bill then reviewed how to use the tilt in feature to be able to clean them.  We are thrilled.  We would definitely use Associated Home Design again, and I have already recommended them to a friend of mine.

"Cleaning job was eccellent; however, after they left I found a couple of large nicks/scratches in my custom cabinets. I was able to cover them with furniture pens but nevertheless I know they're there. My answer to your last question must be a "qualified yes". Since it had been some time since the tile had been cleaned, I'm unable to say whether or not their charge was fair, but I did feel it might have been somewhat excessive for 900 Sq. Ft. Because I was having houseguests within the next few days, I paid their price. If I'd had more time, I would have shopped around."

FAQs for blinds or shades repair projects in Alvarado, TX

If you're wondering whether repairing your blinds is worth it, consider the quality and age of your blinds. For high-end or custom blinds, repairing them can preserve their quality, functionality, and design, making repair a smart choice. Immediate repairs maintain the original look and performance. However, if your blinds are over six years old, extensively damaged, or of lower quality, replacing them might be more cost-effective, as new blinds offer better efficiency and modern technology. Weigh the repair costs against the benefits of replacement to make the best decision for your situation.

When damage undermines the integrity and appearance of your blinds, replacement becomes the clear option. You should replace your blinds when damage to slats or fabric prevents you from obtaining an exact match, thereby compromising appearance and function. Severe damage increases repair complexity and expense. Replacing blinds not only restores superior performance but also creates an opportunity for aesthetic upgrades and lasting benefits.

You should plan to replace your blinds at least every 10 years, with clear signs of wear, such as discoloration, deterioration, or functional issues, emerging by five years. Regular evaluation of style, quality, and performance supports an informed decision. While minor repairs may temporarily extend usability, a complete replacement secures optimal operation and updated design.

Establish a regular maintenance routine to keep your blinds looking and functioning their best. Clean them regularly with mild, specialized products and follow the manufacturer's recommended usage guidelines. UV-blocking window film can protect against fading and warping from sun exposure. Regular inspections and proactive maintenance will preserve their appearance and performance, extending their overall lifespan.

If you pull the blind string and it does not move, it indicates a malfunction in the mechanism, such as a broken cord, a jammed cord lock, or a stuck component. Inspect the string for breaks and examine the headrail for any obstructions. Replace the defective cord or cord lock as necessary to restore proper operation and maintain functionality.

Yes, you can replace your blind string yourself by using a replacement kit available at home improvement stores. Accurate measurement of the string diameter is essential for a perfect fit. Gather the necessary tools and follow the manufacturer’s instructions rigorously to secure a safe, lasting fix. If the task demands more time than anticipated, hiring a professional is advisable to avoid further damage.
