"Requested a quote for converting our old hot water heater to a new tankless unit, Southern Plumbing sent Nick S. to us, hands down the most professional,, and meticulous repair job. Nick beat Michael and Sons’ estimate by $2000 for the same unit without even knowing it. Southern’s business office was responsive, honest, and fast. I Would highly recommend Southern Plumbing."

"The entire experience of working with Clodfelters was a joy. Scott came to our house and did a walk through. We had the estimate by the end of the same day. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The installation team arrived promptly at eight with all the equipment and started right to work. They were completely organized and efficient; they were all very professional (and polite). One of the installers showed me the metal-colored vent they had installed in the bathroom and asked me if I would prefer to have a white one, He brought it back the next day and installed it. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The entire process took only two days (we had been told to expect three). Scott came back shortly before they finished up and went through and checked out all the work just to make certain everything had been preformed properly. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />As I said it was just a pleasure to work with these folks and I would certainly recommend them to anyone who asked for my opinion. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> As a final comment, when my husband and I reviewed the contract it said that the $9500 would be due upon completion of the installation. My husband asked Scott if that meant he didn't require a deposit, as all the other contractors who gave us estimates wanted a 50% downpayment. Scott told us no, he didn't want us to pay anything until the system was installed and we were satisfied. When he told us that we knew we had selected the right company. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Art's plumbing did a wonderful job on my home. An inspection was done prior to selling our home, and a h20 leak was found in our kitchen ceiling. We never had a leak there before so we called a professional to help. Everyone was on time, professional, and knowledgeable on the work performed. They checked our pipes, ran the water, did a diagnostics, and determined there was no leak in our kitchen ceiling. We couldn't have chose a better company! Thank you !!!"

"The techs showed up right on time and were friendly and professional. The toilet they were working on had had the seal replaced when we bought the house four years ago so the tech was surprised it was already leaking. After working on the toilet for a few minutes, they called me in to explain that the flange came up too high from the floor. He said they could cut the pipe to fix that issue, but that it would be much more expensive. Instead, we decided to use shims to make up for the height issue. They finished work on the toilet and then quickly fixed the sink pipe. I was originally quoted $175 for both repairs, but because the pipe was so corroded, it needed to be replaced (not just cleaned), thus resulting in a slightly higher cost. I could easily see the corrosion on the outside of the pipe, so I wasn't surprised and thought the price was still reasonable for both repairs. I would definitely call this company again for help!"

"My home was built in 1952 on a slab foundation with copper water supply lines buried in the slab.  The copper pipe began developing pinhole leaks in December 2015 (concrete and copper don't play nice together).  Last December, I had another plumber bust open the slab to repair a cold water leak and a few weeks later another pin hole leak sprung on the hot water line. Given the age of the copper, I made the decision to replace the plumbing throughout the house.  After soliciting bids from several local plumbers, I decided to go with Joe P Clark based on their positive reviews, the competitiveness of the price quoted, and their professionalism throughout the bid process.  I'm so glad I did.  From start to finish, Joe P Clark was just outstanding.  It took approximately 5 days to repipe the house, but they worked very hard to get the job done right the first time.  I was very impressed with the quality of their work, their constant communication as the job progressed, and how they cleaned up each day.  I highly recommend Joe P Clark. <br />"

"When the water drained out of the washer hose into the pipe in the wall, it came out so fast that some of the water sprayed out onto the floor. Another plumber work on it a few months ago and he cleaned out the pipe and put heavy duty Drano in it. It was better for a few months and then started doing it again. When Wade came over I described the problem and he knew exactly how to fix it without any hesitation. He had solved this problem before in houses which were built in the 1960s. The cast iron drain pipe under the house over time becomes corroded so the passage way becomes very small. He explained everything and wrote a detailed estimate which was reasonable for the work. He replaced the drainage pipe with PVC pipe and fittings. While he was there I had him fix a running toilet and a blockage in my gas logs. So the $720 price includes replacing the main pipe under the house, fixing the toilet and the gas logs. He came two times. Always on time, courteous, neat. I'm very satisfied."

"I called during the "Great Freeze of Richmond" in a panic after our pipes froze! This was in early January and my review is long overdue. They were so courteous and prompt, and ended up being more affordable than I imagined. Peace of mind is a beautiful thing that these hard-working guys truly provide. I genuinely cannot express my gratitude!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Ashland, VA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
