"We had custom-width Jeld-wen composite wood doors installed on a bypass track on our pantry during a 2010 kitchen remodel. Unfortunately, due to their weight and effort of opening and closing them, one of the doors had torn free from the rolling bracket holding it at the top. A1 told us we already had the type of track they recommend, but not the right quality of rollers for the type and weight of door. I was dubious that the solution could be so simple as to just replace the rollers, but they seemed to know what they were doing. First the doors were removed and the damaged one was taken to a door repair shop in San Jose. Once the repair work was complete, they re-installed the doors with new rollers and I am amazed at how effortless they now are to open and close. This company seems to specialize in this one thing, but when that is the one thing you need, they are the ones to call."

"Great experience getting windows installed by American Home Renewal. First contact was 6 months ago. I slept on it for a few months and got some other quotes. Chris was friendly as a sales man, Gave me a competitive price and some pointers on fiberglass vs vinyl. I went with Vinyl. Alex was the installer and was very detailed in explaining the install process. He explained everything in detail to me and showed me tips on how to do a proper install. We did a mix of new construction and retrofit. we added window casings and he was very thorough and asked multiple questions on how I wanted the casings to look. only hiccup was one of the windows was ordered wrong. we couldn't determine where the mixup occurred but they immediately took full ownership and reordered me a new window to the specs I wanted. I would highly recommend."

"In addition to being prompt, responsive, and professional Carlos does great work. My initial call was returned within a few hours and he was at my home doing a walk through of my projects within a few days. His prices are very reasonable and while he works quickly and efficiently, he also takes the time to make sure things are done well and thoroughly.
Overall, Carlos spent a few days at my house - some of the projects were a bit more problematic than we initially thought thanks to an older house, but he stayed until the work was done. In addition to other repairs, Carlos repaired / restored an original 1949 interior door that must have been kicked in by a previous owner. It was a bit difficult, but he spent some time trying to make it right. I didn't expect perfection because of the type of damage, but he didn't feel comfortable charging me the full amount because it didn't meet his personal standards (even though I was satisfied with the result).
Carlos is a keeper and I'm extremely happy to have found him. He's honest and hard working and has a lot of integrity around the quality of the work he does. He's someone who I feel comfortable coming to my home and I will definitely be using him for other projects and upgrades around my house.

"Thus far we have been extremely satisfied with the work Todd and his crew have done!  This is our first house purchase and there was quite a bit of work that needed to be done.  We interviewed 4 general contractors before picking Todd at T James Construction.  We found T James Construction through Angie's List and now know first hand why all the reviews we read are abundantly positive.  Todd listened to what we wanted and provided thoughtful advice.  He knew that we wanted top quality work, but were on a budget, so we are grateful he was able to work within our budget without compromising his quality of work.  He's been conscious in helping us save money by noting that we didn't need to replace some of the wood in the kitchen that we thought needed to be replaced and advised against buying a new window when the current window could be easily fixed.  We also had random knicks and holes in some walls and he repaired them all as a courtesy.  He's been very good about keeping in touch throughout the process and even taking our calls on the weekend.  Since we were living in the house while all this work was going on, he and his crew were very good about cleaning up at the end of the day.  Todd has also been very flexible with working around our schedule; we delayed in ordering the kitchen cabinets and bathroom fixtures so Todd could not continue with our original schedule.  Additionally, he provided us with advice for some minor work that we wanted to do ourselves.  I'll update this review once everything is completed, but I can't imagine that anything would change from what I've already stated.   A great guy to work with and great work as well!"

"All went very well. We had worked with SGK before, installing some downstairs windows, and felt very comfortable going back to them again. Within a few days of calling them, Frank Jewett, the window sales person for our area, came out to the house and spent an hour and a half or so discussing possibilities for each of our 3 upstairs bedrooms and one bathroom. Frank was very knowledgeable, providing a lot of detail and answering all of our questions. Two or three weeks later, we scheduled installation dates (2.5 days). 
We had two installers for this job. The lead was an older man, Gocha, from the country of Georgia, and he was working with his son-in-law. The son-in-law spoke no English, having very recently arrived in the states. Gocha had some language limitations (he has been here several years), but could always make himself understood and we could always find a way to communicate what we needed to. The two of them were incredibly hard workers, and Gocha checked in with us regularly to make sure every detail was correct and to our satisfaction. Our front door installation was particularly challenging, so we totally appreciated their great attention to detail.
They cleaned up well and were obviously pleased with their craftsmanship, as well they should have been.
The only reason I gave them a "B" on pricing is that I'm not really how to rate them in this category. We originally selected them because of comments on Angie's List, with folks feeling they definitely got their money's worth. We do, too, but whether that's an "A" or a "B," I'm not sure.
