"Excellent! The Hidden Cove Construction crew was awesome. They did a fantastic job in a really difficult situation. The roof they replaced was underneath a large outdoor deck and there was little room to work. They were up and down multiple ladders for two straight days, working in tight spaces, and finished the job ahead of schedule. I highly recommend them. They are very diligent, dependable, and meticulous. I would hire them again anytime."

"I can’t express how grateful my family and I are for Matt and his company. Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic damage to our house and property. The storm caused the back side of our house to almost wash away and flooded our entire down stairs finished basement. We called Matt and his company and they were out within a day to look at the damage. He gave us an extremely fair quote. The following day before we even cut him a check. He had his crew out at our property and the back side of our house up on jacks. The communication was outstanding!! They were able to get the back side of my house Jacked back up and back on properly placed posts. They also were able to help replace and redo my finished basement and some damaged plumbing . We had been wanting to add an extra room for one of our boys for a while and didn’t have the know how or financial means. Matt went ahead and built us the extra bedroom, and only charged us building supply costs.. The bedroom came out beautiful and was better than we could have ever expected . During this time FEMA and insurance were and have been of very little financial help. This project almost completely came out of my own pocket. They did the work as asked and then went a step above to do the work before, I was able to completely pay them. They never hounded us for money and were completely sympathetic and understanding to our situation. I wish every company had an owner like Matt. Outstanding work, extremely fairly priced, and most of all he was extremely empathetic and didn’t seem to care about his bottom line. He only truly seemed to care about our situation and that we were happy with what work he had done for us. I can’t brag enough or be thankful enough for Matt, his company, and the quality of work that they did."

Jason Cloninger, President of Dixon Construction and Realty, is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology with a concentration in Construction and a minor in Business. Doors installs or repairs FAQs
You can generally remove between 1/8-inch and 1 inch when planing a door, depending on its construction. Exceeding this range risks compromising the door's structural integrity. For hollow-core doors, only trim the solid wood perimeter frame. Always start with minimal removal and check the fit frequently to avoid over-planing.
For basic door planing, you'll need either a manual hand plane or an electric planer . Additional supplies include sandpaper for smoothing edges, appropriate paint or stain for finishing, and possibly a screwdriver for hardware removal. Painter's tape helps protect surfaces during the process.
A professional handyperson or carpenter can plane a door in less than an hour. This includes removing the door, marking the areas needing adjustment, carefully planing the edges, and rehanging the door. DIY projects often take longer, especially for those unfamiliar with the process or working with limited tools.
No, planing should only be performed on wood doors. Metal, composite, and fiberglass doors require different modification methods entirely. Even with wood doors, hollow-core models need special attention as only their solid perimeter frame can be planed. Always verify your door's construction before attempting any modifications.
