"Found Jim on Angie's list and contacted him via email link on Angie's list on Sunday night at 9:00 pm. To my surprise, as soon as I sent the request to him he called me in 10 minutes. Totally awesome. He told me that I might want to tighten the bolt under the handle and how to do it to see if that would fix my issue. The next day after moving a stackable washer/dryer to reach the valve, the tightening of the bolt did not work but I could see where the valve was leaking and snapped a photo via cell and emailed via the cell phone to Jim. This was labor day, the next morning Jim called me to set an appointment to come to my home to replace the valve for 5:00 due to previous job before me. At the time of the appointment I got a call from Jim that he was going to be 30 minutes late and would that be okay, or he would come out the very next day. I opted for the late appointment. He came, was very clean and replaced the value in 30 minutes.  Gave me the 10% off for Angie's list member. Very professional. Would use his service again."

"Found Destre on Angi after another contractor came out and completely botched the job. Wanted to replace the weather stripping around rear patio door. The previous contractor ruined the bottom seal on the door and left us with a/c escaping and the flys and mosquitoes coming in. Called and spoke to Destre and he came out within an hour. Surveyed the damage and was off to Home Depot to get replacement parts. Could not find but resourcefully found a clear plastic one. Installed and all has been fine ever since. In speaking with Destre learned his experience in all types of home repair. The thing I liked best is he commented “I will not stop working until the job is completed to your satisfaction”. I paid his quoted price and added a generous tip for his diligence and great attitude. I have finally found my home repairman."

"Following the receipt of the written estimate and our reading of the estimate, all of our questions were answered to our satisfaction. The sales consultant, Roland Rojas went over the proposal and explained in detail what we would be receiving and he addressed each and every point that we raised regarding the equipment. We found him very helpful and patient with our questions and thoroughly professional throughout the proposal and installation process. He worked to our convenience when scheduling the job and addressed in a timely fashion, each of the questions we had during, and following the actual installation, once it had been completed. This was was accomplished with the least amount of disruption to our schedule The appointment to install the system was kept promptly and the installation crew conducted themselves professionally and answered any ongoing questions that we had during the installation. They were all, each and everyone of them polite and left the installation area clean and tidy. We will would use Total Maintenance in the future.

"Very well.  They arrived ahead of time, did the job quickly, and left no mess.  We had a new central air and heating system installed by them in September of 2012, which is how we have the service contract with them.  That big job was also done in a timely manner by polite technicians who left our house as they found it."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Bush, LA

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
