"We needed a new water heater. After turning down an in-home quote of $3,400 from Hero, I did a quick Angi search. Two companies called back quickly with estimates of around $1,500. I chose Water Heaters Now and they installed the same Rheem premium 40 gallon water heater. that Hero had offered. Water Heaters Now repaired several other gas related items to bring us up to code for much less than the Hero bid for those repairs (their technician was throwing those repairs in "for free"). Bruce, the installer, was here 45 minutes after our call, he was courteous and thorough. I would use them again."

"The Plumb Right repair person was early! His picture was sent o me before he arrived so I knew he was legit. He inspected our water heater and started to drain it right away. He installed a larger heater as family has grown and now has teenagers. All fixed and hot water flowing within 3 hours."

"We have referred Boevaag to several of our real estate clients and the feedback has always been positive. We have also used them for our own plumbing needs and for our family members in the area as well. Whether it's fixing a leak, replacing a water heater or something in between... they're prompt and always fair with pricing. Definitely our top choice for a plumber!"

"Had under cabinet lighting installed several years ago and recently part of lights went out and needed to be repaired. Randy's Electric backed up their workmanship and replaced the lighting and rewired the lighting so the lights would not go out as easily. This was at no cost to us. We are very pleased with the service at Randy's Electric and would highly recommend them."

"I will not know until spring whether there are any issues with the repair. The plumber was on-time, professional, and seemed to know what he was doing. However, the cost of $168/hour was simply too much. I feel there is a professional plumber out there that can do a good job, but at a more reasonable price. I will keep looking."

FAQs for water heater repair or service projects in Chanhassen, MN

Warning signs include fluctuating water temperatures, a pilot light that repeatedly goes out, unusual noises from the tank, or complete heating failure. You might also detect a rotten egg smell, indicating a potential gas leak, or notice water that never reaches the proper temperature. If your water heater is over eight years old and displaying these symptoms, the gas valve is a likely culprit. Professional inspection is recommended, especially if gas odors are present.

Water heater gas valves are not universally interchangeable. Each valve must match your specific water heater's make, model, and specifications. Important compatibility factors include gas type (natural gas vs. propane), BTU rating, connection types, and physical dimensions. Using an incorrect valve can result in poor performance, premature failure, or dangerous gas leaks. Always consult your water heater's documentation or a professional plumber to identify the appropriate replacement valve for your unit.
